Don't forget that it has a bulit in DVB-H receiver for digital tv viewing cost free, getting rid of expensive streaming tv through your operators and giving 10 times the picture quality, and the first of few DBH-H compatible phones with an actual watchable screen, 2.8 inch!!
I agree the Interface of the Nseries is not pretty, but software wise it is the monster truck of this generation phones, 5Mp Carl Zeiss with double led, DvD like 30 f/sec in day filming, Ngage gaming application with beautiful graphic games unlike the java crap, DBH-H Digital TV receiver, 2.8 inch screen, Mp3, Mp4, DivX, Tv out, and all the thousands of symbian compatible software and applications making the possibillities endless, bluetooth and all the neccesary stuff + it´s a phone :), what the hell do u want? Its a phone, a camera, a videocamera, a jukebox, a movie player, a dvdplayer with the TV out, a digital tv receiver, a gaming device, a portable memory unit, a torch, what the hell do u want, the only thing left is making it into a remote control, a swiss army knife and microwave oven..

It would be awesome phone, if it would be available long time ago... is it hard to develope this mobile?... it's nothing new, all same with other design, those 128mb ram, processor(better/not better than old, nobody knows) and much more... htc touch diamond come, htc touch diamond pro come, and were announsed after n96, and they're available a lot of time(htc touch pro - not a lot, but it's new)... Come one nokia! We need new!Change that symbian, i didn't liked symbian on n82!Nice features, and NOT NICE interface... what about touch screens?qwerty keyboard?... all stuff is not new, we have same n96 in n95 8gb... i think nobody need those 16gb( had iphone 8gb and it didn't feeled of memory lack...) The one mobile that i liked n73( i have now n73me), not cheap, main functions, all symbian features that provide symbian(so all programs compactible to same n96).... and 8-series models, going to get se walkman w960 or 8800 arte or htc touch, maby xperia x1, but NOT N96 in cause of it's LATE release!

Anonymous, 15 Aug 2008whats even worse for nokia is that they allowed samsung to ... moreNot only Samsung, but a recent joint venture in Symbian is planning to create an all new symbian open platform system.
SE and Moto are contributing UIQ assets
Ntt DoCoMo is contributing MOAP assets
Samsung and Panasonic own around 16% of symbian
Ericsson holds a stake in symbian
Nokia holds the outright majority of 56.3%

http://www.symbian.com/index.html Take a look, many hated manufactures that Nokia fanboys will see that many phones are becoming based on a merging symbian interface. S60 is porbably stil lthe best out of all the sysmbian interfaces.

As for Nokia's production, Samsung makes alot of TFT LCDS (Along with sony), Processors can be sourced from Ti all the way to Hyundai, RAM is usually Hyundai or Daewoo, The camera sensors are probably sourced from Sony, Memory can be made by hyundai or Toshiba. BOTTOM LINE: N96 is not COMPLETELY made by nokia

NOKIA N96 is positioned to the people who never had a N95/N95 8GB. It is an alternative to N95 series. It is an all-in-one device which focuses on live TV broadcast and video playback.

Ying, 13 Aug 2008I really suggest you read this review concerning the Nokia ... moreYing after over 150 pages you are still arguing. Face the facts. Can you pack more mAh into a slim psp 1200mAh battery? Is the 1200mAh better then the phat PSP 1800mAH battery. Has optimsation/acceleration improve the playtime of the slim to 4x as posted?

The specs of the N96 are out long ago so stop denying the obvious. You should instead channel your enthu to Nokia and ask them to come out a batt cover for the BL-6F for N96/N95 just like Sony stamina battery with 3 colors batt cover. Ppl will love you more then argue with you.

Greenish, 18 Aug 2008the phone retailers and on Nokia webpage, both see the Nser... moreThats ur opinion .....alota ppl like Nokia designes...... I 4 one knw 4 a fact that they come up with the consept of a phone 4 ur personality.....if ur a fasion freek then there was the 7600 and 7610 if ur an active person then the 5210, 5100 and 5140 back in 2003-2005.... So i dnt knw wats ur argument coz most componies copy there own designs repetedly .....more than Nokia.... Diference is that Nokia hAs more models Out in the market than all its competitors.....

the phone retailers and on Nokia webpage, both see the Nseries as what computers has become, and we see Samsung as what the tv series Topmodel 4 has become, and Ericsson is in between.
I agree that Nokia and Ericsson needs to get som new designers with fresh material quickly, both the companies phones seems to be stuck in photocopy machine apparence wise, the all start too look the same.
And Samsung needs to even more urgently find new software developers, cause accessing memory material and playing them on a Samsung is like writing a letter, attaching it to a pigeon and sending it away then wait for the bird to come back.

nice that all samsung lovers who has never used a Nokia or if they did, it was 1998 or something, is trashing Nokia.
I work at The Phone House in Stockholm, i agree that Samsung make prettier and hotter looking phones, but the Samsung software is a complete joke, if you have ever tried to access memory card material or try to flip through photos or media in Samsung you better take the day of from work, it takes ages. Nokia makes multimedia machines, not pretty phones, it is a matter of what you are looking for, usefullness or eye candy.
Nokias symbian is the best mobile software you can get in a phone, and the Samsung op system is just a menu where you can set alarm and change wallpaper, that´s it.

1)They put the 2 sets of media keys coz a majority of ppl sugested that they coz most lyk landscape mode 4 videos only.....and portrait mode 4 ordinary use and music.....so in orda 2 hav an option in 1 device they put 2 sets......happy?.....
1)The software ishues will be less coz they put the phone thrugh tests.....ppl who knw how 2 use symbian and ppl who dnt...2 see the end result.....
3)The 2 led's.....2 is beta than 1 big xenon that consumes more power than 4led's....and cant be used while recording.....
4)The Bettery.....is enough 2 power DVB-H tv..,3.5G not 2 mention the phone its self and meny other things.....Fact is this Beast is a more hard core malti media gedget than the N95 8Gb......so ppl hav a choice.....Hard core or junkie.....and i doubt the Bettery life 4 talk tym is actualy as stated....
5)Its got more memory.....and additional card slot.....4 ppl like me who like Throwing evry thing in and carrying all the entertainment they need on the road.....

                                        N96 has a better Camera then N82!!!!

                                        check here:

Co-Camera Cellphone of the Year: Nokia N96

Take the camera features offered by the Nokia N82 (see page 2), back them up with a new sensor built to reduce high-ISO noise, pack them into a more compact, versatile device, and you get one of the best camera cellphones of the year. The N96 has a dual-slider design that lets you flip the screen one way to reveal an alphanumeric keypad and the other to access media player controls. It also manages to fit in a generous, 2.8-inch LCD that makes composition with its Zeiss lens a pleasure.

The phone's dual LEDs work as either a flash or a continuous video light, the latter helpful for making movies at 30fps. Shooting is in MPEG-4, but the N96 plays back a number of video formats, allowing you to view and download clips and shows from the Web. (It has an ample 16GB of internal memory, expandable with microSD/SDHC cards.) A flip-out kickstand lets you prop the phone up to view photos and videos, or watch live mobile TV. Wherever you roam, preinstalled software on the WiFi-capable N96 makes it easy to send photos to blogs and online galleries. And the phone keeps track of where you shoot by tagging your pictures with its built-in GPS capability.
