When you get it check its got latest firmware it speeds things up,if not do *#7370# FULL FACTORY RESET WHICH WILL WIPE EVERYTHING AND GIVE YOU A VIRGIN FONE ,THEN UPDATE TO A FRSEHLY FORMATTED N96..
If like some people do and try just to update after months or days of usage you are applying a new ROM onto a heavily used dick Z which is full of temp files and other gunk that computers and smartfones build up,,ie cookies, caches, phalb thumbnails etc..
Try to use a faster memory card rather than the built in memory for video recording..Use inbuilt storage for videos and fotos but put big GBYTES of music onto memory card,,it takes a whiles to read through 24.5GB of music on my 32GB card but putting 12gb on internal memory it takes ages to refresh..
The inbuilt memory is slow,not even class 2 but its made that way to last the life of the machine;
Slow memory but rugged can be formatted many times without wearing it out.
Fast memory can only be formatted a limited amount of times before failure.
The 220MHz is fast enough for all the inbuilt tasks but remember ALL video and music is proccessed by special seperate decoder chips.
Be reasonable with apps and themes and try to use the inbuilt themes as they are specifically designed and tested for the said device,,themes you get of the net from zedge.net or others DO CAUSE compatability problems..Nokias built in themes are very lightweight in KB so they run fast..With respect some themes are in MB and can look good but do cause problems cause ive had nokia/symbian since 2003..
Once youve pressed for a command give the fone a chance to respond and also on first boot up everytime wait till the operater logo has appeared then give ALL smartfones another 10 seconds to let it start up all the proccessess it has to do..

My dad bought this thing 1 year ago (February 2,2009 to be exact) in Dubai... now this fone is showing it's dark side... applications took too long to Load i wonder if the thing had crashed, the slides we're loosed, so it seems like it's not sturdy anymore, POORRR BATERRY LIFE...AMFF... My N95 8GB is a waayyy better than this... well when it comes to storage... this is the winner.... hmmhh...that's all... (sorry for wrong grammars)

Hi.
Just bought a N96 (brand new, boxed with 2 yr warantee from approved Nokia agents). I pick it up on Wednesday. You guys convinced me as it was between an E72 of N96, but 96 was much cheaper ('cos it's older).
Will let you guys know how it goes. Thanks for the battery charging tips.
Any other recommendations / tips that will help me get it up and running when I collect it?
What phone protection cover is the best? Invisible shield or???
Thanks,
Jon

Lionel Messi's hat-trick secured Barcelona's eight nil win over Almerie.
Nokia N96 broadcasted Messi's twenty second goal in all competition.
What a genius phone showing a magical player.

My current phone. A friend of mine brought it to me from UK, when it still wasn't available in my country ( I'm from Bulgaria). I don't really like the touch-screen technology, so this one is still the best phone I've ever seen, not just had. It's easy to reinstall the OS, practically unlimited space to fill, and many other stuffs. Just treat it gently, because the display is very whimsical. I really recommend this one.
