This is da biggest marketing hype ever by nokia lol. its like wen dey first relased n95 wid poor battery den came along n95 8gB wid improved battery. Nokia can help the N95 users by making new battery but they wont do this coz dey want n95 users to upgrade their phone.

who ever buys n96 is dumb. coz sooner or later n96i or n96 32GB edition wil be out wid improved battery n da possibility of xeon flash added lol...

who ever got a n96 now suffer lol.. wid poor battery performance. i never trust nokia dese days at all..

Can't wait for the discussions about n97, n98 or whatever. A year from now you'll all be arguing about something else you wasted your money on.

wow... steve J, Ying, Pdpg... I'm really curious as to how old you 3 are with such different styles of typing.

As for something in the discussion. It's good that Sony Ericsson is entering the windows mobile market and Nokia should do so as well but they have a long way to go with all the windows mobile phones already available. The X1 may seem like a huge step for SE, but in the WM world, it doesn't stand out at all.

              To unknown commentator.

I was wrong in my assumption about you. Another pointless opinion. Thank you. It will be noted in the archives. Here's some advice, don't contradict yourself with your words versus your actions.

              To Steve J

I see you you are all about synonymous words, but understand the definition of them before usage. What you just previous typed was a response which in shape or from qualifies it as a formal letter.

This issue also applies to your post regarding the PHRASE "burst of high intensity light", not term.

When your scientifically discussing the phrases "light power" and "light intensity", you simply can't interchanged them when pleased. You and I both already established LIGHT ENERGY is the result of light power x the flash pulse duration. Question? How do you get the VARIABLE "light power"? Answer, measuring the light's intensity (brightness).

Your continuous incorrect rambling is actually the misleading one. Again, you wrote, "The term "burst of high intensity light" describes light energy." No, the correct sentence would be "high intensity light DESCRIBES light power".

If you're ultimately talking about light energy, what exact statements of mine are misleading. Please, copy/paste the content, and specifically point out my errors. Until then, my facts are correct.

You really have a problem grasping concepts. I frankly don't care whether a device has a lens cover or not. Once again, I wrote, "I believe consumers should provide adequate protection for their devices." That means lens cover or not, ultimately it's the consumer's responsibility to make sure the device stays out of harms way. The way you all are emphasizing on a lens cover, you lead me to believe you all rest your phone in the same pocket as your keys, therefore needing a cover due to your inability to use common sense and provide adequate protection for your devices. Like i said, a pointless discussion.

As for the comment above Steve J, "i don't think consumers should have to build their own lens cover...", I didn't suggest that and a lens cover is not comparable to a car without a windshield. What do people do when an expensive vehicle is purchase? Buy a CAR COVER. Same strategy should be applied when a device is constructed without a lens cover.

Hello again Ying! It is a pity that you did not comprehend my previous epistle which was written clearly. The term "burst of high intensity light" describes light energy. The word "burst" describes something that occurs suddenly or briefly. It can thus be measured in units of time. The phrase "light intensity" is synonymous with light power. Since light energy equals the product of time and light power it is as obvious as the nose on your face that I was describing light energy! So I am correct: your original post was misleading. Furthermore your arrogant dismissal of the complaint of the lack of a lens cover shows you are far away from what people want and are obsessed with form before function.

I wont waste my time debating just to show that thier intelligent or pretending to be intelligent. You cant really judge this phone knowing that this was yet release to the market and actually you dont made a hands-on..but all i can is this phone has great specs and this phone is better than others. although this phone is not the perfect because of the battery life but it has many advantages compared to others...
                          thats it......

                                  @Ying

I appreciate your braveness to counter-attack.Really i have NOTHING against anyone here most especially nothing against you. Its your opinion that im up to(and that i have read carefully)that i supposed you havent even put into test.

also no offense but i can see a lot of holes in your statements that is really open for AUTHENTICITY.

STABILITY/STABLE. i dont know how you defined that ying when you said "An OS can NEVER be stable nor perfected especially when it's opened to developers".It's like saying that no OS will ever be stable bcoz it will always be open for changes.

I did not said that you glorified any company nor try to insinuate that.you just happened to feel the guilt which only you knows why.

FYI im satisfied with 3.2 megapixel but still looking for INNOVATIONS.

As i've said i have nothing against anyone here so even if you're a Mechanical Engineering graduate or not, that's not the case.its your statement that im up to.my opinions will be move if i have to just so you know.

you can leave your response today and i'll read it by tomorrow.

                                    Response to Steve J

Your argument regarding Nokia's lens cover is quite petty. I believe consumers should provide adequate protection for their devices. Based on your logic, one can imply Sony Ericsson is putting "form before function". Just like the Carl Zeiss optic len, XPERIA X1's WVGA touchscreen is sustainable to the same degrees of damages. Why no sapphire protecting glass like the Nokia 8800? This is a pointless dispute.

                                    Next topic.

It's concluded that you don't know how an image is processed. Do you honestly believe you know what you're talking about. If so, please explain to me how can a sensor capture a "burst of high intensity light"? Really, because if you could, you just redefined science.

Light is nothing but traveling waves of ENERGY. The CMOS (complimentary metal-oxide semiconductor) image sensors convert light into electrons. In other words, the CMOS sensor captures the energy of light aka LIGHT ENERGY, not the "intensity" aka "brightness" aka "light power".

In addition, the linked articles' graphs and charts are all based in microseconds. I also mentioned that the advantage xenon has over high current LEDs is the ability to produce high light power and energy in less than 1 microseconds thus allowing the ability to take ACTION SHOTS. Here is where light power over light energy is specifically important.

To the recent no named commentator.

"...haven't move from 5megapixel since 2006..." No offense, but you sound a consumer who can never be satisfied. An OS can NEVER be stable nor perfected especially when it's opened to developers, Symbian and Windows alike.

My last sentences were directed to those who knows nothing about anything, yet the first to say something "sucks". People need to appreciate technology and respect the efforts and dedication put into these devices. No where in my post did I downsize any particular company nor glorify Nokia. I suggest you reread my words and decipher them a little bit more carefully.

As for me sounding like I "REALLY know what you're talking about but its the other way around", it's your INNOCENCE now that has you making a very big mistake.

If you are referring to my education, I graduated with my Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Dexel. Yet somehow I doubt that will move you and your OPINION.

BTW, this forum ROCKS! I'm having so much fun!
