Here we advice each other when somebody has a question in a polite and civilized maner. Even with the latest firmware that i have instored on my n96 it's speed is not as fast as n95 which i also have. Still altought n96 is considered by many as a failure for me it's a very good phone. If you have eny other comments express them in a appropiate maner! Keep that in mind !

What thhe hell do you mean N96 is dead slow??? Try upgrading to firmware 30.101 and you'll see lightning speed.
N96 Dual 264 Mhz don't fuck too much. Try upgrading otherwise then that sucks for you. Way better than N95.

The n96 has greater storage capacity, larger screen , much better camera and video recording is clearly superior. Both e66 and e75 are much faster then n96. They have a 369 proccesor compared to 264 of n96. The arena is also a multimedia device so it comes down to these 2 .

sibu, 17 May 2010hey frens.......shud i buy dis oldie or somethin new ......... moreN96 is about as good as it gets for your use i think, the 16gig internal memory is fantastic, and just add a microSD card to expand. Also as Stefan says, audio quality is good, or not bad anyway, but you need better than the original headset then. Mine sounded great even with the cheapest Sony, i think i paid only like 10 Singapore dollars for it one time i had a few hours to kill in Changi airport.
Battery life however is not that great for non-stop music.
Display is low resolution, and its 4:3 aspect ratio makes it somewhat unsuitable for watching widescreen video.
You could get a used 5800 for cheaper, but then at best with a 8gig memory card. 8gig is not too bad anyway, i never had that much music on a cellfone, but videos, yes... Then 8gig is like nothing. Then battery, last much longer on 5800 and its much better for watching video with its 640x360 widescreen display (N96 is only 320x240).
Disadvantage with 5800 (or 5530) is the camera, N96s cam is sooooo much better. Never mind the Carl Zeiss branding of lens on 5800, its not good no matter what name they give it. I think the antique N73 had better cam. But 5800/5530 takes acceptable photos, your girlfriend will still look like your girlfriend in the photos, so ok...

All that you seed about the camera, video,storage capacity are true( a friend of mine who also has one has over 1000 songs on his phone) and the audio quality is pretty good. On a large screen like this watching videos it's a pleasure. Those are the strongpoints. The weak points are the fact that the proccesor has 264 so it's speed is like i've said just acceptable don't expect super speed like the one of the recently released desire . The second problem is i heard many people complaining that their phones often hang. I had mine for a year and a half and only happened 4 or5 times in conditions of moderate and heavy usage of the phone. But i have read to many opinions about that so it's a real problem . The battery life is not the best but not the worse . It is unfortunate that nokia used a cheap quality plastic for this phone. It scratches pretty easyly i had to replace some parts. For me the pro outweight the negative parts. The n96 is a good phone in my opinion. That being said good luck and have fun shopping!

Anonymous, 16 May 2010how 2 reboot dis fone?????????????I never had to reboot mine but as far as l know you have 2 choises: dial *#7780# to format your phone this is a soft reset it brings the phone back to factory settings without deleting enything that you have installed. The second choice would be to try a hard reset. Dial *#7370#. This will bring the phone to factory settings but it will delete everything that you have(photos phone numbers messages etc) so you will have to save them first. In both cases after you dial the codes for hard or soft reset the phone will ask you the security code . By default this is 12345 or the code that you have. Maybe there are other options but i don't know them. Hope it works !

hello guys. please help me . what should i do?...i have n96 black edition. my version was 12 then i updated it to version 30. i formated the 16gb drive but still photos are there and the photos cant be deleted and said general system error and the photos cant be viewed. please respond guys.. thanks

But on the other hand let's not exagerate, it's speed is let's say acceptable. Enyway if you are loking for a phone with great multimedia features , very good photos and video then n96 is a good choice. If not then you should buy something else.

I suggest not to buy N96 because too much slow its suckssss the procesor speed is very much disapointing i dont thing why nokia making like this shits..

i dont knw why n96 cpu is so slow sucks!... my coreplayer doenst accelarate some video files beacuse of the low cpu! other then that i love n96

using N96 for more than a year. doesn't feel like a usefull phone, but when i try out the other phones like 5230 and 3250....N96 comes out to be the most needed....i missss N96 and that's why i always come back to it. I recommend this phone, it's freaking great..has allll the features i need, especially the camera, memory and the movie performance and quality..darn i love this phone...i would have preferred Nokia N900 but sucks bad, why? Becuase N900 has 65k colour, the same i remember back with the Nokia 6600 had 65k colour and believe me or not that was and is the worst phone screen colour of today.
