thanks to after affects in making us believe this phone can actually compete with the professional HTC competition . i'm not pro HTC, but seriously... just the video promotion looks bad. Oh well... it was worth trying Nokia. I mean next time, do a better job, so you don't have to lay off 1/2 of your employees. Anyway Nokia's market prefer n95 type phones..you know devices that pretend to be professional!Big FLOP.

This isnt a phone. Its a mini laptop. The best in the business. The only phone that comes close is htc hd, but its still inferior to n97 in some vital points, especially the 0S. Its got the good battery of e71 and the power saving symbian 0S. Im sure it will use a ti omap processor (like most n-9x series). This phone puts all the current 8mp cameraphones to shame. Congratulations nokia for this magnificent news.

Such a fuss for that??? Countdown and all??? Sorry, I found it hugely disappointing... nothing new, below expectations, just another PDA for symbian people. Why is it called N97? It´s a N Series? To see the CEO talking about Wi-fi, customization, touch screen,... as if it were great accomplishments is hilarious... I feel Nokia lost its track. Shame...

wud hv been nice if it was capacitive touchscreen. i can live without the handwriting feature especially with a qwerty. oh well, still wna hv 1 asap

lol whats gna happen is lots of apple fans r gna keep sayin y iphone is so much better. then several sites r gna ask the question: is this the iphone killer? then they r gna come to the conclusion that its not bcos they r apple fanboys. the cycle does get annoying. for some reason all new high end phones lately r being compared to the iphone (a phone that still cant record video, has a useless bluetooth, no mms, no sms forwarding, no copy and paste... but it is still gna b considered the best phone by many bcos ???)

First off, about the 8MP vs. 5MP camera. Quit deluding yourself. 5MP gives you a bigger picture than anyone really wants. Unless you are using your 55” plasma as a digital photo frame, what matters is compression matrix, color matching and focal length. In all of these Nokia wins hands down! Backed with a 32GB storage, TV out and a 16M colors 360 x 640 pixels screen; why are we still having this discussion? Symbian is a much better operating system but I still use MS Office files for all of my work. And would it kill you to put in the better HSDPA so that I can run at 7.2!!! That being said it is a lot lighter than most of its “TRUE” competition and unlike the Blackberry Storm, it should actually work well! Go Nokia!

as long as it doesnt follow the awfull software problems of the n96 and n96 and the battery is decent nokia will have a class leader the touchscreen wait payed off i wonder whether it will have a resistive or capacitive touch screen tho

why just nokia produce many phones with the same features tjis n97 the same of n95 and n95 8gb n96 and n85 n82 n79..! what is the diffrence ? is that the sahpe all with the same advantages 5mp cam carl size and 30fps vedio that w-lan and gps recibver is that the diffrent phones poweredee by diffrent vergions of operating system? or that make this phone special from this is the disadvandages of each phone...hehehehehehe...!

The thing is, people can come in and compare it to this or that Windows Mobile device, or iPhone, or whatever, but the people who are here and excited are so because they're Symbian users and really like Symbian devices. Sure, there are probably better Windows Mobile phones out there, but I don't care for Windows Mobile. Maybe you like the iPhone better, but I don't. For me, a person who enjoys his Symbian phones... this little guy looks great.

It dont have an 8mp...So WHAT ???Carl Zeiss is in the house so it will be nice..dont care what HTC SE and Samsung are making they still suck so does windows mobile (puke)!!!!

5800 is already in the market. wit... more+0.3" is a big thing! you are not a big thing.
look the n95 -> n95 8gb. it is 0.2" and is makes a huge diference.

I had a nokia N80 and it's CPU is ARM 206Mhz, I did compare converting and generating .mp4 files, the same files also in my Tablet PC PIII 800Mhz the nokia did it faster in some points, but of course PIII is faster in other things!
ARM9 CPU 206Mhz = about PIII 700Mhz!
ARM9 CPU 369Mhz = about PIV 1.5Mhz? I em not sure, cos I never had one of this processor devices!
See, If you take for example HTC touch Pro, it has 622Mhz CPU, but if you try to play videos on it or record videos its very choppy and it's skipping frames, and is delaying the sound, that means it's not device to trust on quality!
The Nokia ARM CPU and symbian system it's very strong and stable a device you can relay and trust it!
