The N97 is the worst phone I have ever had the trouble of owning. Here just a taster of the REGULAR problems I've experienced:
Frozen screen requiring a full shut down and restart
Crashing of the nokia web browser
"Half screen" freeze - When half the screen goes black and this doesn't change from landscape to portrait
The phone doesn't hang up when I want it to, I have to wait for 2-3 seconds until after I press the red button
Everything about the phone is slow: Start up, aspect change, opening apps.

This has got to be the most crappy phone I have bought! I have had it replaced as it was DOA, then fixed another 3 times! Its not worth the trouble - the screen is pixelated, turns its self off, blank white screen, the name of whos calling doesnt come up only the number and the phone wont lock. I could sit here for hours telling you whats wrong...
dont buy! So many of my friends have had the same prob!

which should i get, n97 or n97mini? im not after for the 32gig storage. hardware/sofware wise? and which have the better stereo speakers? which is louder? i read that some of the users here are having problems with the camera flash that every time they take a picture a white something comes up at the left side of the pic... pro and cons of the n97 anyone? thanks...

That is feature is called 'Caller-id'. When you're subscribed to your local service provider, they will usually provide you this feature. However this service is not free but it is not costly either. Perhaps you can check with your provider if you're actually subscribed to this service.

Hi Just a question about the Nokia N97
i just brought a brand new handset, and when some one calls me the number doesnt come up on the screen, it just says slide. so i have absoloutly no idea who is calling me? even when i go into the recieved calls/missed calls and dialled numbers it comes up no name.. but its contacts i have in my phone who has callled me.
does anybody know how to fix this at all?
like what setting??

Go for Nokia X6 which is 100x better then N97 even far better than N97 mini.

if you think that it is a nice phone with lots of features & planning to buy it then please wait till the end of 2010 when n98 is going to be launched which sports a 8mp camera and symbian^3 OS(S60 v6)

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970I like the N97 better cause of its hardware qwerty and design but both phones have the same processor.Its just as was pointed out x6 is capacitive touchscreen.
