Don't buy N97. Nokia is shifting their focus. If you look at hardware, Sony Ericson and Samsung have much better hardware than this. The price is only a little bit more, but it's well worth it. N97 is nothing more than a nokia 5800 with QWERTY and better camera (but still not as good as Sony Erickson).

Heyyy, the phone is not an iphone killer, but its a new collection to the n-series. So keep that in mind when purchasing the phone. Obviously over usage of the screen would cause wear and tear, so use the stylus...(reason it was supplied with the fone), Furthermore, the fone is functional for internet browsing, and merely misc uses. It had good storage space, and the 3.5mm headset jack so u can play ur music collection. The sound of the fone speakers itself wont be that great coz obviously its a FONE!!! Nevertheless is a gud fone for the collection of Nokia N-Series.
As for the i-phone fans, well go purchase the iphone, obviously, the expense to maintain the iphone in counties like PAkistan and Middle east, Costs get higher. So its a good alternative, if we want to sacrifice on the visual effects and all that jazz.

I just want to say that all problems about N97 and all the complains are true. I still have the N97, I am waiting to sell it, and perhaps buy a G2, I'll see what to add as a second phone next to the iPhone. If iPhone supports 2 sims I will keep it alone. I like mobiles, I like to try other brands, I tried Nokia for years, Nokia is out of my life now.

... and one more: my phone has a strange problem - when I try to unlock it the display does not light up in 5 out of 10 cases. So I have to lock and unlock for a numerous times for the display to light up. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

I have the same problem with the phone hanging on and I have to take battery out to restart it. Also battery barely lasts for 1 day even with manual synchronization. I paid Euro 700 when it was just released and I certainly overpaid. It is far from being a iPhone Killer

this phone is just not it at all. apart from the storage, i did not find anything spectacular about it. in fact, the touch screen of mine has stopped responding thus rendering the phone unusable....... i need help with it please so my money does not go down the drain.

Nokia N97 is not worth the cost. At around USD 600/- I regret buying it b'cose it hangs more than its on. Literally getting battery out 3-4 times a day to unfreeze the stupid phone.
Look for a better brand. Very unlike Nokia.

4 weeks ago i was looking for a phone, i found this site. Then found the nokia n97, looked lik my fone so i looked through the coments and 90% were
"i lik it"

Rest were how do u do this and...

that's all some people do is to moan. some people are never satisfied and so shall it be.
i got the n97 and i like it very much.
if nokia was to create a perfect phone with no flaws at all some people would still moan, lol you guys are so funny. in some reviews were the n97 is pitted against the htc pro2 it is said that the htc wins hands down, however many htc owners are moaning about their htc phones LOL (freaking babies)
the phone i had before was a nokia e90 and i sold that for $350 and bought the n97 with added monies. i remember some people was moaning that the e90 was too big and heavy but to me it was yet another perfect phone, and selling it for $350, three years later of usage is a BONUS. (thanks to the NOKIA TEAM for the e90)
to me all nokia phones are great. do you remember the popularity of the 3210 ? nokia has managed to keep the menus and usage flow in most parts quite simple and a rigid strong hardware quality. this sort of thinking is what made bill gates windows in the pc world most favorable in choice to use because with each new windows release only little has really changed. human beings love when evolution increments in little stages.
if you dont like your phone then sell it on ebay and buy another and see if that can fulfill your search for the quest for a perfect phone....
i will bet anyone right now for $5000......
currently people are stating that the nokia n900 will be the best phone but i can safely bet that when the n900 hit the streets you moany people will be here all over again moaning that n900 is shite and how its too big or chanting some other dumb babyish tripe. LOL
to me it sounds like many of you moaners were forced to buy and use the n97 at gun point. (LOL) or is it that you cant be bothered to own up to your own bad choices.
did you actually do some research before buying the n97 ?
did you think after the fact of all your research that the n97 would secretly look and work like a apple phone ?
what did you really expect ?
please take it easy... stop stressing.

the nokia n97 is a great phone, its jam packed with features. its got that nokia look, quality, feel and usage written all over it.
and with newer firmware coming then the phone will only get better.
i would recommend it.

The flash is not the same as the real Flash Player. But sites like YouTube, GSMArena, etc do display flash content. So the N97's web browser doesn't have full flash support.
