I am using this phone for more than a month now. No issues post firmware ugrade. Thank God. I want to share some valuable tips about this phone. Hope users will acknowledge these well.
1. First thing to do: Get some very good quality screen guard pasted on the screen. Besides protecting the screen, it will do the following things
a) make your screen look glossy and shiny.
b) make your screen vivid and smooth.
c) make the touch more sensitive. You will get the capacitive touch screen like of feel. It will be even better than the Iphone. Believe me. I have pasted a very good quality screen guard and have got surprising and pleasent results. After a bit of research, I found that the screen guard has automatically pre pressed the resistive touch screen to the level, where you only need to point you finger at the icons and the touch is complete. Better than Iphone, believe me. I have compared the both. My brother has an Iphone. He is now jealous of my N97.
2. Uninstall all the bundled software like Facebook, AP, Qik etc and download them again from OVI and install them on the mass memory. This will free your vital phone memory. A great improvement in the functioning of the phone will happen.
3. Remove the network hungary widgets from your home screen. All the malfunctions and lags are due to these widgets. These widgets consume a big amount of RAM. Untill further firmware releases, using the online widget is distraught with problems. Future firmware upgrades may solve the problems of widgets. By disabling widgets your battery too will long last as data wont be transfered endlessly.
4) download a new web browser released recently. Name of the browser is BOLT. It is 100 times faster and better than the inbuilt browser and much more better than Opera Mini.

zionXT, 29 Jul 2009I have owed this phone for 3 weeks now! I'm making this com... moresimply to say.. the phone is good, but it's not the best out there. You can deny isheep, because they only won on some particular point, but shockongly lacks some essential specs. but if you compare it to Samsung i8910.. game over from every single aspect. I wish this is Nokia phone.. but it's not. So you're certainly not a leader anylonger Nokia. Do you realize that? then do something to take and retain your position back!!

Almost perfect, but do not have Divix codec make me very inconvenient. Even my favorite coreplayer still not support S60v5...

i just got the n97 nam version,and the software date is 15-06-2009,and then i update the new version v11.2.021,then i check custom version date still the same 15-06-2009,the latest update(not updated).why???????i already did it two time still the same,and all my info in the phone still not clear,is means not updated,but the software version is already show v11.2.021.any one can help me please.

I have owed this phone for 3 weeks now! I'm making this comment to point out some straight facts about the N97 & to avoid some of the misleading comments of other people who hates the N97 w/out even having tried it for themselves.
1st...The Phone is NOT SLOW as stated by a lot of people. The real issue is weather the phone delivers a satisfactory level of speed when using it! The answer is a BIG YES! It does not mean that if it has a mid-ranged CPU then it will be slow! Many things are to be considered especially the configurations that Nokia made to make it work w/ the s60 5th. it has even a faster CPU than the N95 w/c has already earned it's reputation.
2nd...The keyboard issue is just all about getting used to it! I bet most of the people who have tried typing in the N97 & complained about it has never even tried to type from a mobile phone keyboeard before w/c is ofcourse small compared to normal keyboards. I was typing fast w/ this phone actually in a just a day of using it.
3rd...The phones biggest downfall i think is the firmware! Almost all of the complains about the phone is about its usability & stability! But all of these problems can be SURELY fixed in the next firmwares to come so DONT WORRRY!
4th...The Resistive Screen sensitivity is i would say very responsive! sometimes its as sensitive as the capacitive screen of the iphone! considering its a resistive screen that needa a little pressure for it to register as a touch or swipe is very good! I dont any other resistive screen phones make it more better than what they have done in the n97!
5th...When it comes to design! well its very obvious that it's a looker! everytime i use my phone in public, people can't help it but to stare at my phone! haha! its a good feeling when you own the phone!
6th...Lastly! overall the phone is great & we could expect things to be better w/ the continious growth of the OVI store & better versions of Firmware to come! then we can say that the N97 is worth the money! You will never be bored w. the phone & it almost have everything that you need! in fact i have not been using my laptop now for 2 weeeks since i got this phone!
I hope this will help others decide! I'm a happy user of the phone! DONE!

Its an amazing phone and i didnt put any apps on it,enjoyed it fully for 2 years.
Only buying n97 now cause of its touchscreen and qwerty and other added features and the design is awesome.

Nowdays everyones perception of a good phone has changed dramaticaly.
Before apple, people used to look for design factor-megapixel-ect
Now the conventional specs only effect 50% of ones perception of a good device.
The rest is app store kind noveltys.
Every smart phone needs a decent appstore or it will be doomed and considered a handicapped smart phone that you need to change when a better one comes up.
Hence the new models every few months n95-n96-n97 ...
Manufacturers have to wake up and and follow the path that apple has opened ahead of them.
app store is the key.

i have N97, this phone almost perfect, except for the office, it doesn't have editor. only for viewing, under the quick manager it has the download file for the quick office upgrade for enabled edit for the word, excel, powerpoint, when you download, still not working, and even paid for the edit 3x still not working, m starting to piss off with this n97, or nor the nokia, why can't you make it perfect, instead of releasing nokia phone still not complete, thats why you cannot meet your target!!!!

The only issue I have (and that is stopping me from going for it) is that the screen does not go all the way down like the 9300. It stays upto a max point. I still use the Nokia 9300 and can adjust the screen angle depending on the light shinning/available, whether on the table or walking...
