I got this phone after the rave reviews. The applications and touch-screen were great. But 2 weeks in, I had to send it to the service centre. There was bad battery drain problem (it'll go empty within 24 hours with low usage), the phone would heat up on its on and back-light problem.

The shop returned it back after 2 days citing that it was due to a software problem. I had checked the version some days ago and nokia.com said that it was up to date.

When I was at the service centre, 5 other persons were there with N97 problems as well. I'm wondering if we were all duped into getting this phone.

      n97 not supported yet , but 5800 is supported

      why nokia is so mean with the ram?
      does 256 ram chip really cost a fortune?

      the highest ram in nokia phone is only 128ram, N97 N95 5800 n96, n86.......

              Does this phone have a flash for taking pictures at night... also i'm interested in buying it this dude from the UK said that word on the street is that it has alot of Bugs. Can pick up aloads also.

                from reading all the previews from almost a year ago I was totally geared up about getting my hands on this phone. Once it was released I saw equal amount of good and positive reviews. I now Own the phone and it really is the best phone I've ever had (past phones include iPhone, N958GB Nokia E65 Sharp 902 and 903 Sony Ericsson p800 and p900i) This phone, the user experience can only really be appreciated when you Own it it works how ever you want it there no need to jailbreak it to do extra features there no need to download a load of apps to make it worthwhile hold from straight out the box this phone is like a electronic device waiting to become your new digital friend.

                  Well there is great. The touch feature requires a hard press unlike Iphone. The software and display is not great either.

                  The touch keyboard is difficult to use.

                  However, the good point is that is has a very good battery life. However, do not think its worth the price

                      Not worth buying. Look at it the front buttons are really ugly. Very slow when compared to HD to connect GPS. No innovative design. Same old model with some minor finishings. Mostly from china!!!

                        can anyone help me please??!!

                        wifi isnt working on my n97! i switched it on. when i connect to a network, i put a WEP key, but the key is never stored. Also, when i start the Web from wifi, no page ever opens, it says " "web page error: "no gate way reply" "! thats when i use wifi, when i use WAP everything works. Just wifi isnt storing WEP key, and no application that i want to use wifi with works! hwowe to solve please!!

NOKIA was hoping to come up with Smart phone beside the nice features of the N-Series offers… for example a lot of people was waiting for the Nokia E75… E75 was not up to the expectations

                          the result is complete failure... u can't create smart phone and the OS is Symbian... Symbian is simply can be used for Media mostly and the 1st brand realize that was S.E. when the stopped the P series (P990 & P1) and after that they went to the windows mobile instead.

                          i remember last year i was reading news here in GSMarena.com about the market share that the Symbian is coming more popular that the Winmo and all companies are moving to the Symbian because the Winmo is very costly... that true Winmo cost more and S.E. paid the price with X1 but S.E. is not the only one NOW Samsung, L.G. and Motorola are producing mobile runs with Windows.

                          Symbian is good but limited.
                          Win/Mo is good but costly.

                            I dont understand how you can compare the Iphone to the N97. Both devices are a class of its own. Just becoz the N97 might have some glitches doesnt make it a bad phone. 1 in a 100 or so phone might have that issue.

                            And for those of you who think the Iphone is faaaar better than the N97 for some software glitches or something then I would be glad to introduce to you people who say the Iphone has software glitches, is slow, hangs & stuff.

                            Both are class phones in their category. Simple!

                              guys nokia n 97 is awsome, tried it and luvd it ,, i personally never ahd any problems with nokia, i have done a lots of experiment on em, may be 1 in 100 phone might have small software glitches ,thats it. i trust nokia, regarding n97 guys it looks simple but once u get inside it ,its kewl.

                                The nokia N97 is one of the best phones I've ever come across, but while I am an avid supporter of Nokia for their user friendly features and (on the hold friendly after service at care centers), the Nokia N97 lacks :

                                1)Battery Lifespan, a large screen and on-going applications makes the phone go low on battery very fast. After a 10 hours charge, I bluetoothed for 20 mins, talked on the phone for 15 minutes, surfed the web for 10 minutes and it went flat within 2 hour or so. But that problem can be fixed with a better quality battery like Xenon.

                                2) I've been having software problems and have sent the phone back 3 times already. In fact as I'm typing, my phone is somewhere at the Nokia factory.
                                Main problems faced were : whenever I sms, the rear camera just switches on by itself.

                                Also when I take the phone out of my pocket even in auto-lock mode, the front camera is activated. It also refuses to key lock at times and once it does, the phone hangs and I can't switch it back on again evenon full batt.

                                When I store/save msgs in my handphone, many a times I can't reopen them.

                                3) It is very bulky and quite heavy.


                                On the hold, I give the phone a

                                1)7/10 for being user friendly
                                2)5/10 for battery life
                                3)4/10 for music quality on loudspeaker
                                4)9/10 for functions and applications
                                5)8/10 for its qwerty keypad
                                6)4/10 for its software (for now)
                                7)Total On Ave : 7.5/10 (excluding the bugs)
                                8)Total On Ave : 5/10 (Including the bugs)

                                  concerning the memory card i am askin about it for backup purposes only... i know 32GB is enough, but a 1GB or 2GB is enough for backup just in case the phone crashes. (i know you can backup on a pc all your data, but the memory card is a faster way to backup if you dont have access to ur pc)

                                  and i am also asking about the TV-out cable if it is available in the sales package? if some1 can help me on this cause i am willing to buy the N97 very soon.
                                  (and plz iphone fans dont reply on this thread saying go for the i-phone and stuf like that) i have tryed the iphone and it sucks... its a nice cadget for 2 hours to 3 hours only and then its so boring...

                                        Hi,


                                        Require urgent assistance ..

                                        When I try to open a new document, meaning create a new document (word, excel or powerpoint) it doesnt open. It just shows the page & the bottom 2 options are not there & it is stuck there.

                                        Also ..

                                        I have an issue .. I have transferred some pics to the phone however they're kinda blur. You know in other phones the blurness thats there before the picture becomes clear right? That kinda blur .. However even after waiting for a long time the image is still blurry.

                                        I dont believe it is the picture problem becoz in my previous 5800 the image was clear .. Whats the problem? Can anybody help me ..
