Who cares if it is an iPhone or nokia.
          Every phone has faults.
No one can make things absolutely perfect so give them a break. If you like the phone, use it. If you don't like it, don't use it

Hey mate, see how badly that guy misread the situation before over 20 million iPhone's sold, the App store opened, Nokia went from the N95 to the N96 failed miserably then scrambled to release the 5800 and N97 (released after 8 months of hype) which is substantially the same as the N95 with a different keyboard and screen.

The writer of that article also failed to foresee the impact that the iPhone would have on mobile data use, a desktop class browser on a phone led to unprecedented growth in this area with iPhone's making up 66% of mobile web use.

Nokia also tried to mimic the App store with Ovi store but as S60v5 seems to be buggy and incompatible with a lot of S60v3 applications, it will a long time before it can come anywhere near what Apple achieved in one year.

So Pal, that 2007 article you linked to is useless irrelevant drivel.

                  Right cobber.

Fast forward several months and I think we’ll see a slew of disappointed people who realize that the battery is prone to the same fate as that of the iPod. Now, I’m sure there are a ton of cool features on the phone, but I dare say there is nothing that hasn’t been done before. Personally I could care less how many bells and whistles my phone has; I just want it to be as reliable and clear as a land line. Secondly, when I step away from my computer, I don’t want to be able to check email, or sports, or the stock market, etc… The more dependent we become on these little devices, the greater the disappointment we face when they don’t work the way we want them to. For instance, how many phone numbers do you know by memory? Do you know your friend’s birthdays without looking at your blackberry? Our technology is becoming smarter and smarter to compensate for our growing stupidity.

For the record, I have nothing against the iPhone. I just can’t stand popularity without substance.

I have N97 since week, yesterday I upgraded new firmware 11.0.21. I have some questions regarding this.
(1).. previously in all upgrades in my nokia phones it was observed that after upgrading phone was started like new purchase that is all factory setting were found restored. and found many new softwares or applications. all datas & all installed applications were found removed. I had reinstalled all applications.

But in upgrad of my N97 its observed that all applications & datas & settings remains un changed. Why it so.? i can see status that firmware is found new. is it necessary that to remove all datas & applications previously installed & all factory setting restored?
                          (2) There is small amount of memory in mobile. so make free some memory i removed many applications from pjone to install on mass memory. i was in idea that that applications will be recovere while upgrade new software but sorry to say not happened so. now form where i can get back that applications. i Tried on OVI store not avilable.

My first 24 hours with this phone was so painful that I nearly returned it to Dell. Fortunately, I found a thread on Nokia's message board that was helpful in making this phone usable again.

Now that it's working, I will say that it's a nice improvement over the N95, but is still far behind Apple. It just lacks a seamless user experience. And for a phone that is touch capable, the user interface is not designed that way.

The resistive touch screen is sensitive enough, as long as the user interface is responsive. Which brings up the next thing -- multitasking. I find no point in multitasking if the phone is unresponsive and laggy.

I don't love the phone, but I like it. However, I am hesitant to sell my N95 8GB because I'm not entirely convinced that the N97 firmware is stable and solid.

Shame on Nokia for releasing a half-baked phone touted as flagship model at flagship prices. Nokia has 42 models listed on the USA website. If I was the CEO, I would stop the brand dilution, come out with far fewer phones and dedicate more resources towards the user experience. GM had alot of car models and look at where that landed them.
