Why would the battery drain really fast when playing music. It has a stronger battery then my n95 and even that can last a while playing music.
If you're gonna come on this forum at least tell the truth. Gallery won't show pictures,huh never heard of that problem before. You probably never even had the n97,you or your friend.

I notice the ram is not enough, why 32g internal storage and then 128ram?
It shows that nokia needs more competiors to make them move forward!!
32g in n97 because the iPhone3g 16g
n98 will see 256 ram because iphone3gs 256ram

I purchased N97 last week. It's nice. I have just one lil confusion if anyone can clarify it.. It plays WMV files but not all. Can anyone tell, why? If it plays WMV format, it should play all the videos in wmv format.

I have been using phones since the last 12 years now... Out of those 8 years I have been using a Nokia... The best user friendly phones to work with... 2 years ago I wanted a reason not to buy an iphone and stick to a Nokia... But didn't find any and just had to buy the iphone... Since then have been addicted to the iphone... Like every other phone even the iphone has some drawbacks... But the overall experience over he last 2 years has been very comfortable.. With the jailbreaking the iphone does almost everything (ok I am not a fan of clicking pictures with my phone... I carry my SLR around almost everywhere... Or forwarding messages... Or transferring songs via bluetooth...) Then 6 months ago since I heard of the N97 I was very eagerly awaiting a return to using Nokias... Have been missing it just for the sake of it... My brand for many years...
I had registered for pre-ordering and couldn't wait to get my hands on it... I was invited for a sneak peak... I played with teh phone for almost 30 minutes but didn't get the feel... The touch screen wasn't as comfortable to work with as the multitouch of the iphone which works with the tiniest of flicks... You have to put an efort... And the double click feature is very irritating... The keybord wasn't as efficient either... Too small I feel... And to use the function key for every number... Just damn frustrating...! Also I was dissappointed that the functioning wasn't as smooth as I expected... Too slow in loading the very few images which were there in the showrom trial piece (I was there the first day it arrived... )
Then last week a friend of mine finally bought the phone... We transferred all the videos and pictures from his N95 to the new phone and surprise surprise none of them show in the gallery... We have to go through the file manager and see those files... We have this thing of meeting up on someones terrace and sit for a round of drinks... Adn since this friend always has the best collection of songs on his phone he is the official dj of the group... A round normally lasts for 2 hours and the phone plays continuosly... Well with the N97 this time around 2 surprises... The batery drained surprisingly fast and the phone hanged... This has been a constant worry with nokia phones since the N series... They always hang... And the N97 leads the group now I feel... Thats one thing I had forgotten about since using the iphone... It never ever hangs... Now its not just about restaring the phone... When a phone hangs and u have to hardboot it, it shows how unstable the OS is... So overall I would still prefer the Iphone (haven't had a chance to play with the 3gS yet) over the N97...
@Allan Continuosly calling other people babies and asking them to go play doesn't make you right... Infact shows you are no different... And although many people here are biased I think you are no less...

please nokia put the price of the n97 higher and make the part to keep up the screen with qwerty keyboard more stable bcoz mine broke and cant repair it please help me nokia and the back nokia writing got scrached in a week i need to buy new cover now plz assist my request with keyboard stand, price higher and writing on new covers made in australia

Nokia Maps application has been given a new look, while positioning accuracy has been improved. The time taken from starting the application to getting a lock has been improved, with times around 8 seconds or less when in combination with A-GPS. The door-to-door has also been improved, with walking routes giving audio feedback as well, direct to house.
When the phone went through different primary connections for data, such as 3g packet, or Wifi, certain widgets became stuck in a loop where they continuously recieving a null from the previous connection method. The phone has a new feature for developers that 'shouts' when a connection is changed, in addition to lost. The widgets have been updated accordingly and we have updated our knowledge base accordingly.
When large videos were played through quickly, sometimes the screen went black as the video information could not sync up with the raw video data quick enough. This was especially apparent when skipping through multiple videos quickly. This has been addressed by caching the first 30 frames of each video before allowing playback to commence and we have had no problems of this kind.
Community made applications that began on phone start up, and then got stuck in an error loop were unable to terminate or uninstall. We have addressed this by adding a terminate now feature to the application menu. When switching application, holding down on the application will display the option to do so.
The pictures and video clips made with the phone sometimes did not update in the photo/video library after files had been manually added via a transfer. This was due to the way in which files were counted and stored by phone conflicting with the number of files present on the device and has been resolved.
Text messaging now has the option to confirm sending once the green button/send button is pressed. An option was also added to prevent accidental sending of blank messages.

I think the higher price is justified. Plus u can go for 5800 if u dont need the above. so u have an option.

I am having N97 since 4 days there r some problem i am ... moreThe firmware is availaible for only some fone models first....and then it becomes available to all. This is done to reduce the traffic on the update server.
Have a little patience and keep checking the updates. It will be availaible soon.

hi all
i ready lot of expert and user review .most of them negative remarks for n97.most mobile expert critsize keybord and os of n97.i calculate the all reviews conclusion n97 is not good device.in gsmarena voting 5800 has take good vote compertively.

FV, 04 Jul 2009After some time of prevaricating over what phone to get to ... moremy main objection are the same. last time I posted my encounter with N97 launching.. 3 rows keyboard isn't sufficient. the touch and speed are doubius to me. I move my attention to E55 which is also not clear whether nokia is gonna release it or not. Damn nokia.. wish they make faster and more friendly user keyboard, which is hw + sw issue here, meaning different phone or next level of N.. how long to wait? I dunno.. feel bit tired waiting for the right one... at the mean time I stick to my N82.
