lots of bugs need to be fixed.

Guys give some time and try buying the phone.

I have brought this phone 2 days back. I am facing frequent hanging of system. I checked the system status and it shows 120mb ram usage(without any apps running) and only 30mb for multitasking. So you can imagine why all problems are there.

                  ## Also i notice that the speaker quality is very cheap. Its sound volume is low then my previous E71. On full earpiece volume the speaker breaks. But the volume is still low as compared to other phones. I just say, nokia has just juse a cheap speaker then the chinese phone... It sounds like a empty barrel. and they call this sterio speaker. ..Nokia ... you are just a shameless folks.

%% The touch screen freezes at many places. the nokia email application (NMS) dosent support html emails which it use to support on my previous E71

                  ## Accepting and rejecting calls is a nightmare. You first have to slide to unlock the screen and then click to accept call. So two actions. But that too are complex. The unlock slide is on left direction and then accept on right direction. The finger stroke. And since the phone is slow to repond, it takes 5-10 sec to accept the call.

@@@@ Another funny thing is, each time i go to accept the call and the icons rotate due to G-sensor. So it takes another 5 seconds to orient the phone in right direction and then slide the icons in opposite directions..

&&& >>>They have also copied the iphone unlock style. I mean, on the home screen you need to swap your fingure from left to right to unlock the screen. But the most idiot thing here is that the slider dont move with your fingure. It remains there and only your fingure goes ahead. Perhaps nokia couldnt copy the iphone properly or it was patented... ????
                  ## another point. At 35K they dont supply you with the AV cable that use to come with N82. So you cant see movies on TV.

Problems with nokia emails : Nokia messaging dont work properly on the N97. It dosent have HTML support and neither Touch support. If you have 2-3 email, you cant switch by touching the email dropdown. The touch dont work. You have to use the slide keypad. Also the loading circular icon shows only half and full in the landscape mode.
The worst part in landscape mode is...., of the 3.5 inch display, 60% is taken by the buttons and email headers. So you are left with mear 200pix width. There is no full screen mode. Its a pathetic ..

Keypad problem : I saw that in the black model , the keys are white with black background. They are very think as if it looks like its used for past 1yrs and totally wornout. Now the funny part. Because of this i got the white phone. Now today in noticed that, indoors the sensor lights under the keypad so there is white lit text on white background. This means you cannot read the text at all... This problem is not an acceptable design.... its really sucks.

Camera flash is uneven: When you use the led flash, its putting more light on the left bottom part of the frame. IS another shame on nokia.

                  My earlier comments:
                  ----------------------------------------
Since i had pre-booked this phone, yesterday a Nokia dealer salesman gave me a 15 min demo and i grilled them for an hour for bringing such a lousy phone. It has weak processor, old technology resistive touch screen (need hard press and sometime does not recognize touch. iPhone is Capacitive technology with has more success rate of touch recognization), low resolution, It hangs if you start to play a 1GB movie, the touch screen lags behind the thumb speed (low ram 128. most new touch phone as 256), wrong side D-pad for left handed, No Xenon flash for Rs35,000, primitive camera functions. No smart contact search like in E71, and many more.. This phone was just hipped for no reason. Every demo had just the home screen demo. Because inside it was same old S60 phone. Not worth for 35K. Its not multi-touch like iPhone. Highly primitive technology phone.
There is no office doc editing. Only view. No preloaded N-gage or Microsoft active synch, No GPS
When i asked the salesman why i should spend 35k for this phone, he had no answer. some competition for this phone will be from HT HD,
Samsung I8000 Omnia II, Sony Ericsson Satio (Idou),
HTC Touch Pro2If you read everywhere, no one has appreciated this nokia phone. Nokia is making all its attempt to fool people to buy this. Their TV ad has nothing but just the homescreen. Whats so great of that homescreen ? now every phone has customizable screen.

My HOPES for the next firmware upgrades are:

                      1. First, I hope they can fix the screen locker switch. That’s an obvious bug.

                      2. I hope they can also implement into the phone the mechanism of pencil button, aside from developing 3rd app like ThePencil.

                      3. I hope they can improve the camera for better still shots and video recording. Add up also some features for better autofocus on objects and faces.

                      4. There are also some buttons in the UI where it functions but not visible. For instance, in Contacts, you can see the Options and Exit buttons below. Between them is a hidden button that functions as ‘Select’.

                      5. There are also times when the volume button of music player doesn’t seem to work. This occurs randomly though.

                      6. For the design of Homescreen, I hope they can retain the effects of wiping sideways even though I turn the Theme effects off.

                      7. I hope Nokia can also redesign the calculator buttons with color variation with numeric keys and operation buttons.

                      8. I hope they can add up more themes with dark shades.

                      9. Web browser works nice right now after that of 5800’s. I think they can still improve the browse experience as fast as the opera browser.

                      10. The Search application needs to be tweaked. It is too slow even when I’m typing the keyword I am supposed to search.

                      11. I hope NGAGE app and games work fine this time.

                      12. There are also some icons that are not properly cropped. For instance, in the camera quick settings, when a setting icon like the Scene mode is pressed, you can see excess from the selection frame.

                      That’s all for now..

                                Hi everyone!

My first phone was a little nokia 3210 then I had the v220, a samsung U600 then the slim Motorola L6. I had endless issues with the samsungs and the motorola with software and awkward user interface so I came full circle and got a Nokia 8GB Black. This has been the BEST phone I've ever had but then my upgrade comes round. Vodafone originally gave me the HTC Magic to try out which although nice looking, is an awful phone. Anyone with nails could not use this phone & it gets extremely hot during a call so I returned it & waited for the N97.

I picked it up today and I'm super impressed! It's nice looking, comfortable to hold has buckets of features that actually work and I love it. I think the reviews that pick on the N97 are from the more techy interested among us and don't really matter to someone who doesn't spend every waking hour using their phone.

The touch screen is big & responsive, the navigation of the device is familiar and sensible, the cameras are good quality (just like the N95 8GB), Connection is great and I can't fault it. It has also saved me a trip to a vodafone store to get the data transferred by having a nice easy to use programme that does the lot at the touch of a button.

Make no mistake, I'm no technophobe, I work in the computer & mobile industry and see alot of crappy technology - this is a great phone and stands well against the IPhone.

                                Nuff said :-D

                                        WTF Nokia???? Your moving backwards...

We've had the N97 in the office for a few days now and it does not have 3D graphics hardware acceleration (no GPU, in other words). It still supports OpenGL ES, but only via software libraries (and with the higher resolution screen in the N97, there'll be three times as many pixels to move per frame, than on a QVGA display).

Both the 3GS and the i8910 both have gpu's and fully support open GL ES 2.0

Come on at least the N95 had a gpu...
No wonder Nokia are losing money...

                                        TRY AND KEEP UP NOKIA!!!!!!!!!
