Allan, 23 May 2009Negative comments of others. "leave symbian to rot in their... moreWell yes, as another posted was saying that the Samsung Omnia HD was slow, with better, faster hardware than the N97 then obviously there must be an issue with Symbian, as the N97 and the Omnia HD both use S60 v5.
Could restrictions with Symbian be the reason why Nokia seemed to peak with the N95 8GB and have since removed 3D graphics acceleration and decreased the processor speed on later models, N96, N97, they also went back to a single processor.
It makes me wonder if Symbian can handle the latest hardware in much the same way as DOS on PCs a few years ago.

Then again, you can wait till a phone with the NVIDIA Tegra chip comes out :D, or untill most of the phone manufacturers start utilizing the TI OMAP 3430+ chip, and of course anxiously wait until the symbian foundation brings out their os. In this economic recession there won't be any great phone coming out.

e.g. The Quad core processor, March release, 10.2 Mbps HSDPA, I've corrected lots and lots of misleading comments because I do my research and share that with others.

I was disappointed to learn that the N97 doesn't have 3D acceleration like the N95. I was hoping to play Quake and DOOM on the phone. Honestly, though, I think it's something that is nice to have and load up once in a while to show that it can be done, but I don't think gamers would play them seriously on these small screens. One just doesn't get the same experience. So, while I think 3D acceleration is just a "wow" factor, I'm glad the N97 overall has a lot of the excellent capabilities that it does.
I simply cannot wait for the phone to arrive at my doorstep.

cath, 22 May 2009not wanting to wish my life away but need a new smartfone a... moreI agree about capacitive screens,,if you put gloves on or docror where inputting info with rubber gloves these screens wont work...Here on uk tele the police are using tytan11 for on the spot info inpuy etc but modt have gloves on whilst searching the culprit so capacitive no use their plus in cold weather and hot weather capacitive screens tend to operate wildly and more expensive to replace and more fragile than the resistive counterparts,,

not wanting to wish my life away but need a new smartfone and n97 is it ..The 5800 is pretty decent job so i am selling it for n97 ..I am beautician & capacitive screen no good with long nails.

Have held the dummy omnia hd today and its really on the verge of it being not a fone anymore..To be serious some of these devices are unpocketable and verging in tablet territory..I thought the i-phone is big in hand and pocket..The idea of the smartfone was a pocketable device with opertaing system that could help expand your work away from work but still be connected to work..Thats is also including n97 to be fair,,these smartfones are getting big and heavy..

...goodbye Symbian RIP, you had a good run over the years but when it comes to the crunch you just can't handle it.
The sooner it's gone the better, bring on the real, modern operating systems capable of running on high powered hardware, iPhone OS, Android, WebOS and WinMo.
Leave Nokia to rot in their underpowered Symbian hole.
