Anonymous, 28 Apr 2009...and let's see how optimized S60 v5 runs on the 800MHz CP... moreWell, with nokia controlling the SO and deciding if they will take advantage of 3D acceleration or not, I don't expect Omnia HD is going to be noticeable faster (talking only about UI).
WinMob devices use to have better cpus, but nokia normally have better recepcion/call quality, which is the main reason of having a phone.. isn't it?

Me, 28 Apr 2009Actually am not all that dissapointed about the cpu, lets f... more...and let's see how optimized S60 v5 runs on the 800MHz CPU of the Omnia HD with 256 MB of RAM, hardware graphics accelleration and dedicated 5.1 audio chip.

I don't think it's hard to see which one will win out.

This is sad the cpu specs posted was a shocker, this phone may turn out to be a masssive failboat for nokia. may still be a lil early to call it that tho.

after all these things i have read about the cpu, does it mean this phone is running slowly???? or it may hang or not run some programs??????? coz i only use the phone for calling, taking some pictures, hearing music (the most thing i use) and sometimes checking my emails with it...... i know u would think im crazy for paying almost 600euro for N97 which i can do all these on a cheaper phone, but i really love this phone and its price is not an obstacle, i just wanted to ask is it a big deal???? coz i dont put a lot of pressure on the phone or use is as an animal !! :p:p so after all of these things, will i have a problem becoz of the cpu speed???? i appreciate ur replies :):)

my this dream phone is a crap!

5800 with 434Mhz and 128ram for 599 euro! worth every penny?

              it shloud cost 400euro.

i predict nokia lose market share again, they may make loss this year or after n95!

5800 is still the best phone

nokia just stick to mid range phones, your n97 cpu hurt many people

Actually am not all that dissapointed about the cpu, lets face it, it has a 434mhz cpu. So what! As far as it runs smooth am satisfied. Do you guys think the folks at Nokia aren't aware of the competition? Who knows if the code behind the n97's version of s60 5th is so optimized that anything more than 450mhz would be an overkill. You know 6 months is enough time to pimp the heck of that s60 5th code and rumours that the 5800 would be getting the n97's UI via firmware upgrade, solidifies this assumption even more.

So before we make any decisions, lets wait until we see a review of the actual retail unit. If it is able to handle ngage and multi-tasking flawlessly, then i don't see any reason for a more powerfull cpu, that will do nothing else but bump up the price. If Nokia succeeds on this front then, it would be considered an innovation rather than a dissapointment. It would also mean a new milestone for the symbian os As a clean, blotware free, optimized os. Am really suprised at you guys reactions. It would take more than an under powered cpu to seperate me from my next upgrade. Just my 2 cents. But i really think we should hold our judgements for the retail version of the N97. Am still getting one though.

Things like HD video, faster zooming of webpages and photo's etc.

It also let's you use more powerful applications like the ones the iPhone is capable of running.
