VGA video is at a resolution of 640x480.
nVGA video is at a resolution of 640x352, so a 640x128 strip is removed to change VGA from 4:3 to nVGA 16:9 widescreen at a lower resolution.

Sphlynx, 12 Apr 2009All you r saying is BS, the tv-out on my N85 works flawless... moreDo yourself a favour, drop into your local electrical store and pick up a component cables for your DVD player, unless you're already using HDMI in which case there's no point.
This is for if you are still using the single yellow video out lead (composite, like the one that comes with the phone) replace it with the component lead red plug, green plug, blue plug, make sure you have the DVD player set to one of those inputs on the Bravia, leave the yellow one plugged in so you can see the DVD player menu on the screen, go to video and switch it to component...
...you should notice an immediate increase in picture quality.

Unlike the iphone, the tv-out on the N97 displays every thing on your phone, it is not limited to podcast and videos only. As i said earlier, it can be used as a larger display for your games just like the xbox or ps3 does.

Sphlynx, 12 Apr 2009Most people keep asking silly questions, please refer to th... moreCheap old composite video from the eighties, which the iPhone also supports, it was good for old CRT TV's, but the world has moved on component video has far higher quality as I can see when I plug my iPhone into my plasma TV to play back podcasts and videos transferred from my PC, unfortunately Nokia doesn't support it so you miss out, I don't suppose it matters much with the restriction to nVGA, fake widescreen made by tearing a 128 x 640 strip off VGA.
It's not real widescreen like Samsung and LG have and HDMI out like the Samsung omnia HD.
It shows just how far behind the times this overhyped junk is.

Yes the Nokia N97 has a tv-out with widescreen support, it displays everything on your phone, you can use your tv as a larger display for your ngage games with the tv-out, it can also display the camera feed, if connected to ur pc and combined with some software, it can be used as a web cam. This phone is super, its got alot of features, u can't afford to miss.
Just incase some ppl haven't seen it, here is a 15mins long video showing the N97 with nice transition effects, a very fast ui, widgets and more cool stuffs http://www.vimeo.com/4010757

You better stick with your old cathode ray TV and forget the plasma's and LCD.
Recommended retail price in Australia = N96 $A1149 iPhone 3G $A975.
The 5800 with "comes with music" is $A974 vs $A474 without, Nokia just rip people off by overcharging.

Unless the N97 costs less than the N96 which will show how Nokia have been ripping off their customers by overcharging.
