I think Pepsi needs an education on what a built in GPS receiver means! The first i phone used google maps in conjunction with wi fi to determine where you are and for getting a route for where you wanted to go but had no navigation, hence built in gps receiver wasn't mentioned in the spec's until iphone 3g came along!

Oh, and Anonymous, if you are going to discuss the obsolesence of the N97, you need to get out of the technology industry. Every form of technology released becomes obsolete after a few months. Also, the N97 and iPhone customer bases are completely different. The iPhone is more US based and the N97 is more Asia/Europe. I would know...I don't live in the US and the 3G iPhone is almost totally unavialable to me.

Ok, I think Allan and Anonymous need to take their arguments somewhere else. Neither of you are getting the other's point and this is by no means the place to debate the superiority or inferiority of one phone that has been out for over a year to one that has not come out as yet. Not to mention, I wouldn't compare this phone to the iPhone...they aren't in the same category. The only similarity is that they are phones and have touch screens. Everyone is entitle to their own likes and dislikes...no need to berate each other about it. That being said, I believe I'm going to sell my N82 and then purchase the N97. I think it's time for a change, and Nokia has provided me with such.

Allan, 07 Dec 2008Pepsi, i have voice guidance for my gps, so get things righ... morei have no idea who this pepsi person is, but i can promise you i'm not them, so i would kindly ask you to stop referring to me as 'pepsi' call me nelsy if you must call me something.

Google maps uses to the GPS to locate where you are standing then then gives you directions to your destination, hmmm so you it finds where you are at that moment and then gives you directions to where you want to be, sounds like a MAP not a GUIDANCE system, GPS software has yet been developed, hence i said faults to date, the iPhone software is continually evolving, something ive never seen symbian do.

Yes it will be out of date, 90% of its announced features are already available in phones of this class, so in 6 months it will have the same caliber of features as a phone i can buy today.

and lol @ 'The n95 is still popular!' onward brave nokia soldier! preach to your grave, as im sure everyone is listening. well ok that was sarcasm, what does the n95 still being popular got to do with it? other then to show how much of a pile of junk the n96 is

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970so youve managed to point out a bunch of obvious info that i already know about the iphone, when ive already admitted it has faults? i never even said the iphone was superior? in fact ive already said that it isnt? not once have i tried to put this phone down due to its specs other then that by the time its released it will already be behind, which is a matter you cant seem to dispute.

so my point is, what is your point? do you know nothing else other then to point out whats missing from the iphone to date? or are you just here to try and champion the nokia brand? which i mean seems a tad pointless since they have their own marketing team for matters such as those.

oh and by the way, as you dont seem to get it, if your device is as loud at a lower level then another at full then how is that gonna stop them blowing the pieces? and i did say listening to MOST of them at MAX volume blow the pieces.

Oh and if you're silly enough to be checking a MAP while still driving thats your own fault, as thats all google MAPS is, its not GPS guidance software otherwise it would probably be called Google GPS

Anonymous, 07 Dec 2008better then iphone...blah blah blah do you all realise t... moreStop comparing this to the iPhone. The two are not even in the same league. The N97 is a SuperPhone while the iPhone is a high-end phone.

I'm not saying the iPhone is bad. But, it's not the Alpha and Omega that Steve Jobs and some Apple fans would have us believe.

The iPhone was the innovator of a beautiful touch screen interface. But, other than that, it's a pretty average phone.

I've printed out pictures from my n95 and they were great!

As for the volume issue, nokia has enough volume you don't have to put it on full, and I've used headphones a lot with my n95 and they aren't wrecked as you try to claim!

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970oh and before i go, Nokia has lived on hype from day 1 so dont kid yourself, nokia is a company based on hype, they are still riding the wave from their on 3300 series, i still get customers saying they only buy nokia because they had one of the 3300s and how good they were

I never said the iphone was a perfect phone? yes it has its flaws, plenty of them, but it works for me, i wasnt attacking this phone in specifics, hell if it was out right now id probably tell people its better then the iphone, thats what makes me laugh at you fanboys, i take a shot at a failing giant of a company and you start sticking up for one of their products.

Who needs more volume from a music player? 90% of the headphones on the market die withing 6months if you use any player a full volume, so you knowif you want a phone to wreck your head phones then go ahead im sure youll love it.

I'm sorry but if you cant see that this phone is only offering most features that are already available in most high end phones TODAY then youre kidding yourself, and in 6months it will already look like a dinosaur.

Oh and its ugly to boot, just like the n96 and just about everything else nokia has released lately
