I had similar problem too which was solved after I removed the mms settings.

I encountered a issue with default messaging app that causes high battery drain so i have to freeze it with link2sd and use zero sms. I need to say that custom roms will be felt as good only for few days or few weeks. No lagging,best sound quality,best battery back-up only with stock rom
