Plenty of us compare this mobile with budget offerings from other brands which employ the same SOC as this device. Particularly, we compare this mobile with Motorola devices which employs the same Snapdragon 695 SOC. Though we feel that Motorola employs Stock Android, it is not. It is heavily bloated with their own UI and sometimes with apps like Facebook. But, Motorola devices are better than other Custom UIs in its own way. In the same way, some prefers Oneplus devices over the others. To be honest, there is nothing wrong in choosing any brand. The brand war arises because of bloatwares, some in the form of apps and some in the form of Custom UIs. Why Stock Android is so popular among some consumers is that it is more secured than other Custom skins. To be precise, even iOS is not totally secured because, it also uses third party apps. A device's security is always dependant on the nature of apps it uses. Other characteristics of Stock Android is that it consumes less power than other Custom skins and can run efficiently with less processing power.
If one really wishes to compare this mobile with Motorola, the right device is Motorola's Edge 30 Neo. Compare its price and specifications with this mobile. This might make everyone feel that I am contradicting my own previous statements, though it is not. Though there exists a comparable device for this mobile, doesn't conclude that the asking price by HMD for this device or the pricing of Motorola for their device is justifiable. The reason is that both of these devices doesn't employ a justifiable SOC for its price, in spite of employing OLED displays. To make things clear, just assume that this device is made of Gold. Its asking price would definitely shoot up exponentially, because of the Gold it contains. Though the Gold justifies its price, it doesn't serve any purpose. Though few super rich consumers would prefer this, most of us would not. Hence, its sales would go down drastically.
Though the asking price for this device is justifiable from HMD's point of view, it is not from most of the consumers point of view. This device would be bought definitely by some, who have deep pockets. The same is the case with Nokia G60. Its asking price is not justifiable because, similar competing devices are priced lesser.
As stated by me in my previous message, if HMD decides to manufacture just one device for each of the target audience (Budget and Mid range), their asking price would come down, due to high volume procurement of hardwares. Moreover, their after sales services (Hardware and Software) would become simpler due to variety reduction which would increase the probabilities of providing quality Android and Security updates.
There is nothing called the best of all. We have to live with someone to lead our life. This device, Nokia X30 is really good enough than other competing devices other than Google's Pixel, if its asking price is not a concern. I am more concerned about Google's Pixel just because it delivers all together a new experience, though it also contains bugs. You have to use it(Pixel) to experience it. I don't have one but, I have used it (my friend's). The same understanding goes well with Nokia's G60.
To conclude a mobile is just a tool to make life simpler. Nothing more, nothing less. There is no use in beating around. If you have the money, just get one to use it to throw it later. If you don't like it after purchasing it, exchange it for some other mobile. The only thing that matters is the depth of your pocket.

Sin, 05 Nov 2022We definitely don't want region exclusive devices The... moreI personally think that making international models would put a huge strain on the brands. But I'm totally against carrier-locked phones. Or the other best thing brands such as Nokia can do is price phones according to the markets. It may be less profitable from the start but it would build a good reputation eventually, or else some people may be put off by the pricing at the beginning.

They make life harder for buyers or you end up missing out on good smartphones
Almost every time people find themselves wanting a smartphone made for another market
that is only available but in one market so the difficulty of importing it happens and taxes
Then there the getting a smartphone too work on your network and getting it unlocked
And having too check if Google app store is supported
Even need a plug adapter too be able too power the smartphone and being made designed for different voltage levels from different home plug sockets

I'm really liking the build of the Nokia x30 and it's camera is also really good, it's obvious that's where most of the cost of the phone went to. The display with 90hz is fine the probl is the chipset 8s definitely underpowered for this price, asich as I really like this phone I cannot buy it at it's current price unless it's at a good discount.

I think Nokia should adopt Lenovo's strategy by manufacturing region exclusive devices for competitive markets (and people like us prefer Nokia Tune to Hello Moto). Even the G400 fits the bill perfectly.
At least they can reuse the design of phones like the Nokia 2.3 and 3.2 (a balance between the Nokia feel and ODM feel) instead of keeping cameras at the top left corner, which would make them stand out among tall-displayed generic devices.

About pricing in the UK Nokia is popular and cheap for budget smartphones and very affordable
Nokia c & lower g series are priced affordable & cheap outstanding value for money on the hardware for the given price can be found reduced a lot
although the cheapest Nokia smartphones are sluggish
But it's the mid range smartphone made by Nokia that have the unjustified price premium
Nokia g series & X series very overpriced and poor hardware for the price
I agree all smartphones should have bezels or at least just use a pop up camera
Plastic build frame back with grainy texture definitely be a improvement I agree
having a plastic touch screen & removable battery as well be ideal and more sustainable
Plastic is a good reliable cheap opinion for smartphones and good choice for cost savings
Although I think making a metal and plastic version of the same smartphones would be better too give people the choice
Some people just want premium metal build that feels nice too hold and use
The other specs you suggest would upset a lot of people if was priced as a mid range smartphone
IPS screen & Snapdragon 480+ & 6gb ram is basically a budget smartphone be fine as long as it's price is low
Got be careful not too under spec a smartphone as it needs the system requirements for future Android version like Android 13/14/15 & mainstream apps of a few years into the future
The Nokia smartphone upgrade a lot and are supported for a long time must be able handle new software without being too sluggish in the ul or using third party apps
A good mid range smartphone is a flagship killer
Focus on screen & performance is most important plus having good battery life
Take advantage of low ram pricing & put old flagship processor inside and match the the standards of the mid range market
8gb/12gb ram & Snapdragon 870 plus cooling system with good quality storage high endurance reliable 128gb/256gb/512gb storage 1080p 120hz oled screen
More options is better for the customers with huge line up of smartphones there is something for everyone

Minu, 03 Nov 2022Didn't you have a better thing to complain about? All ... moreAs you have said, it is true that it is really absurd to speak about recycled parts here, instead of performance and value. As far as software bugs are concerned, it exists because of the nature of the Android Operating System itself. Even Google's Pixel has bugs.. But, I am here not because of bugs. It is SAD that HMD doesn't provide most of their good devices globally in every market like G400. Also, it makes everyone feel that HMD is taking advantage to provide their clean Stock Android services to our world, by pricing their products exorbitantly.
If I am asked to design a good midrange device it would have the following specifications.
1. A GOOD no notch FHD IPS LCD display (6 inches or more) with minimal head and chin spaces like that of Sony devices protected with Gorilla glass 3.
2. Unibody Plastic frame and plastic back with grainy texture for good grip.
3. Snapdragon 480+ 5G SOC with 6GB RAM with 64 GB internal storage with dedicated card slot.
4. No Android One licensing required until HMD adopts clean bloat free Stock Android. Also, just one good Android update is more than sufficient because, most of us don't keep our mobiles for more than 3 years. Android One licensing just increases the cost of the device.
5. Sony 12 mp (wide) main camera accompanied by Sony 12mp (ultra wide) camera with LED flash. No Zeiss optics.
6. Sony 8mp front camera.
7. Dual speakers. (dedicated speakers instead of using ear piece as a speaker)
8. 3.5mm audio jack.
9. FM Radio
10. Side mounted fingerprint scanner.
11. Good WLAN with good hotspot
12. USB Type C with OTG support
13. 5000mA battery.
14. Only one color option (say black)
15. 20w charger.
16. No protection case and no head phones.
17. All sensors as in G400.
Though I have discussed these things time ago, in an old GSMarena post, I state it again for the betterment of our Global society and HMD. One MIDRANGE device variant would be more than sufficient for the whole world, instead of variety of garbage. Moreover, mass scale production of the said device in a single color option with just only one memory variant would amplify single SOC procurement and other hardwares in a large quantity, which would definitely bring down costs. There is no need for a flagship device as believed by HMD. In the same way one BUDGET device is more than sufficient. If manufacturers do really care about saving the resources of our planet, why shouldn't they stop manufacturing so many variants. Consumers who complain about device's back instead of good performance or those who expects more, always have choices. They may choose some other brand. Can HMD accept this?

Subramanian CN, 02 Nov 2022I did mention about Nokia 9 Pureview to defend arguments by... moreTalking about the Nokia 9 Pureview
we need to take into account release date and pricing
in 2019 i think it was kinda bargain
The main reason no android 11 on nokia 9 pureview is bad is because of broken promise
by nokia on there best smartphone
Nokia 9 PureView owners will get a discount on a budget phone instead of Android 11
so Nokia did try too make it better
Realistically
android 10 still supported version of android So Nokia flagship still plenty of life left
I don't think android updates are all that impotent android updates just added extra features and settings that's nice but they also slow smartphones down a lot and take up storage a lot of the storage in a smartphone
running a older version of android a smartphone will be just fine and still functional for years too come
it's the battery hearth people should really be worried about as it is much bigger problem
for old smartphones maybe free battery change would of been a better way too make it up too the Nokia 9 pureview customers
In todays market the nokia 9 pureview
it holds too much of its value for late buyers in 2022 too get a good deal buying one today
i don't think the google
Google Pixel 6a or Google Pixel 7 any good they are way too overpriced and google tensor
is a downgrade from otherwise best processors of there time period
The google pixel phones used too be good and had snapdragon processors
and lost a lot of there value making them ideal for late buyers
google pixel 2 3 & 4 was often great deal for late buyer because of low price flagship
snapdragon processors and good software support
Brands like Sony Fairphone motorola & Umidigi also make stock android smartphones
so people have a few options
Sony is making flagship stock android smartphones
The Sony smartphone have really good screens & flagship hardware
in 2022 Sony is best high end option for stock android

Subramanian CN, 01 Nov 2022Firstly, I never spoke about other brands though honestly, ... moreSorry if you miss understood me, i was not contradicting you, just included my opinion and experience. I actually do not find Pixel6a to be better, i also find the claim that google has the best camera in android to be more of a legend and not a reality, yeah, they have this better AI algorithms, but not everybody likes computer made pictures. I always turn hdr off and when i want to get serious i always use Pro mode in nokia devices. For a fast snap, that's not that important, cause if it will be i would first set up the pro mode for the light and enviroment am in, the x30 does great, not perfect, but good enough to call it a day. Google tensor, was a flop, in my opinion, a lot of overheating and throttling because of that, i do not know how Google Tensor G2 in Pixel 7 will prove to be, but i'd avoid the first one with a passion.
Yes, Pixel devices are a direct contender to Nokia and newly, motorola, out of them all, i would go for nokia just because i want to support european brands, then commes the other stuff i mentioned. With motorola i had experience a long time ago, those times where they were still USA Brand, since the chinese took over, am not that intersted anymore. But they do some ok products.

I think Nokia did the right thing with... moreI did mention about Nokia 9 Pureview to defend arguments by Carol. I know the reasons behind the Android update failures of Nokia 9 Pureview which is really fatal, the reason why I don't want to blame HMD. Still for the sake of discussion and to justify my arguments, I need to mention it.
Now, the thing is not about Nokia 9 Pureview but, is about this device. Also, it is true that Android updates from HMD are sluggish and late. This is not justifiable because Nokia devices employ clean Stock Android with no Custom UI and since Android updates have become simpler after Google's introduction of Project Treble. The thing is not about how well this device is or how well it performs but, it is about how well it stands before competition and about its value proposition against similar competing brand, the Pixel. This comparison shouldn't be made with other brands because none of the other competing brands employ clean Stock Android other than Google. Honestly, this device is not on par with Google's Pixel 6a which is priced lesser than this device. This device is priced like a flagship device though it is not. Consumers who can afford to buy this device can very well opt even the Google's Pixel 7 which is still more valuable. We can't prick our eye with a golden needle just because it is gold.

Subramanian CN, 01 Nov 2022Firstly, I never spoke about other brands though honestly, ... moreJust wanted mention
I think Nokia did the right thing with the Nokia 9 pureview
It's sad it will never get Android 11 but ever brand mess up at something or another Nokia just focus too much on camera that ended up backfire
The Nokia 9 pureview camera was developed by a camera company that help make the camera and software for the Nokia 9 then the company left the market leaving Nokia with the overly complex camera too deal with supporting on AndroidOne that Google made also not helping either
So Nokia was left on there own too deal with big problems
It was too much of a challenge for Nokia too overcome updating the smartphone and making the camera work on new Android version so the Nokia 9 stays stuck on Android 10 broken promises for people who brought it but it's not the end of the would
Maybe Nokia could of updated it too android 11 but it be a buggy mess with problems with the overly complex camera unless Nokia spend a lot of money and time fixing the problem
In short don't break what not broken
It's clear the Nokia 9 pureview was ahead of it's time now all smartphones have multi cameras for better or worse

Carol, 01 Nov 2022I said "flaghippy" but i could name some stuff th... moreFlagship grade support and warranty
You seem too have really good experiences with Nokia
I don't consider Nokia brand too give this kinda support or warranty kinda middle of the road
First I tried too buy generic k-touch i9 mini smartphone with 3gb/32gb but sold out they offered there flagship mini smartphone instead i had too demand my money back
So I tried buy brand name directly from Nokia
I brought there Nokia 3.1 3gb/32gb new £135 but they lost the smartphone then was sold out
So they tried too send me there Nokia 3.1 16gb/2gb plus 16gb SD card instead
That was refused rather fast by me
At least the refund was fast this time
Why can't I just get the smartphone I pay for??
I can't stand it if the modal I pay for is not what I get
Ended up getting a Nokia 3.1 2gb/16gb £50 new but from other seller this seller was good
I do like the Nokia smartphones and installation manual that comes with them so helpful the manual is but Nokia support nether awesome or terrible

it puts Nokia smartphones at lunch date and reviews rather unfavorable so weak point get more blame and strengths look less good

Nokia G400 is an excellent device but, HMD don't want to launch it globally. Even if HMD launches it globally, their asking price would be higher, though they offered it cheaper to T-Mobile.
