Hi, gangs, looking for some advice. Between the Nothing 2 and Thinkphone. Which one do you guys prefer?
Bit of context: I am in Australia, Nothing 2 price for 12+256GB is AU$1150 and Thinkphone 8+256GB is AU$999. Apart from the RAM, I think the Thinkphone is a bit better specs-wise compared to the Nothing 2, price is cheaper too despite Thinkphone having a 68W charger included.
Thinkphone's design bit boring, but Nothing 2 is way cooler. The Thinkphone battery is a bit better too.
Software-wise, I like stock Android, but I don't hate Nothing OS, looks very cool. Thinkphone has a feature like DEX in Samsung phone, which I very much love to have.
ATM I am more lean toward the Thinkphone. Love to hear your feedback. Thank you.

CamoGeko-XDA, 14 Jul 2023This is bad, too expensive and following the same trend tha... moreNothing phone 2 is supposed to be a flagship, not mid-range.
If they had put a 7 gen 1 in there, you would probably complain that they used an overheating chipset. Anyway, too late, you bought the Phone 1.

Anonymous, 14 Jul 2023you think SD 8+ Gen1 will not over heat ?There isn't any chipset that won't overheat, but 8+ gen 1 doesn't overheat as often as Tensor G2.

why antutu scores quite low for the 8+gen1? even my hotter 8gen1 on poco f4 gt got almost 1 millions for the antutu v9 and almost 1.2 millions for the v10.
extra : for the antutu v10. antutu v10.0.1-OB1 and v10.0.2-OB2 has some bugs and problems that app not run properly, especially with android 13 phones. sometimes 3d gpu test not run. just updating into v10.0.3-OB3 or the latest v10.0.4-OB4 could solved this problems

Ivailo, 13 Jul 2023Cown down bro the price is gonna drop by 30-40% in 2 months. And in 4-5 months the 8 Gen 3 will be available in phones at that price point. 😂 Meanwhile you'll be stuck with an 8+ Gen 1.

"1x3.0 GHz Cortex-X2" (Designed 3.2ghz)
Same underclocking as the much cheaper Poco F5 Pro which just came out in May. Almost as if Qualcomm had a cheap batch that couldn't pass 3.2ghz during the binning/QC process. There's no logic butching the (biggest) single core performance like this.
I asked NF what cooling tech they had in the phone, they never got back to me. I suspect it's shait and throttles above the G1+ average, could also be the reason it's underclocked, but I think what I wrote at top is more likely, but can be both too.
Last gens flagship SoC which are underclocked for 679-849€ right before the 8+ G2 arrives is a horrible deal, especially with all the lackluster features such as USB 2.0, IP54, 45w charging, camera max: 4K60fps, 1080p60fp and 1080p30fps front camera, and more. Only 895k in Antutu on a G1+ (average for G1+ above 1 mill, throttling already at AnTuTu?)
I guess the LEDs are a plus...? You can put your screen face down and look at white lights so you don't have to look at that pesky and more informative always on display. Display scratches are kinda cool to look at too, as they haven't listed which gorilla glass they're using.
For 679-849€ you might just get a flagship/gen2 phone. And if you wait, massive sales on G2 phones will happen when the 8+ G2 comes out - which is right around the corner, almost 2 gens behind at release, I thought that was reserved for tablets?
No things phone G1-?
