Got the phone on Friday. Looked great. And I was really happy with the clamshell design (my first clamshell). Unfortunately, videos are crap and camera isn't great. I don't mind either of those problems though cos I'd hardly ever use them anyway

But there are too many niggly little annoying things. Texting is the worst format I've ever had to use - neither iTap nor normal multitap is fast enough. Also, little things like quick shortcutting - i.e. pressing menu->9->4 on my current phone takes me straight to my inbox. On the x3 - sometimes shortcutting works, sometimes it doesnt. Odd.
Never remembering settings is another annoyance.

Those things are enough to make me send it back. I need good usability.

So I phoned them up today and they actually answered within 5 minutes! That's the first (and probably last) time that's ever happened! And now it's all packaged up ready to go.

It's a shame, I'm sure it was just dodgy firmware. But oh well.


Any advice on what to get instead?

    you have posted that once already. If someone knows the answer they'll post it. Stop wasting peoples time having to read your repeated crap every few lines.

      Lets hope BenQ can either do something to fix the problem or make O2 do something, becuase this is ruining their reputation.

        I have contacted Benq as well, hopefully they will give an answer as my query has now been forwarded to the service team.

          Stephen,
          I asked at my local O2 shop on SAturday, and they claim there is no problem with the phone, apart from problems with wap/GPRS settings, which they have now got a fix for.
          BenQ still aren't giving me an answer, but I would put this down to poor firmware, BenQ are a solid brand, and do actually make digital camera's too...... so I can't beleive it's the phone itself.

            Dpalmer - please read a few pages of the thread before posting - its been covered many times (dont mean to be funny but the thread is over 35 pages now and most of its repeat questions - like yours)
            But in short you need mini SD Adaptor, to make the mini card to normal Sd size and a card reader - some pcs have card reader already.

              how do you work the mp3 player in the o2 x3 as i cant. do you need to buy something else

                Has anyone seen pics on VGA (highest setting)on the X2 to compare mine taken on X3 to - this may give an indication if its the O2 firmware - or just a crap quality cam - Im sure Benq wouldnt produce such crap though(they do loads of decent Mp3 players etc as sold via Scan in Bolton)
                I would also love to see peoples pics from the Benq version when its released in far east. as the firmware will be all Benq.
                Deciding wether to take my X3 back in the 14 money back period, its a good phone, but this makes me want to put the money on a good cam phone!!

                    If you want a phone that takes good 1.3MP photo's DO NOT BUY THIS. Even at VGA level it's appalling.

                    There are better phones with better camera's......... a real shame, but it's a fact.

                        can you use the mini sd cards (with adaptor) in other things where you'd normally use a full size SD card - like a digital camera?

                              Does anyone know how you can put Java games on to he phone? I have a lot on my PC, but don't know how to transfer them to my X3.

                                Another thing I've noticed is that it doesn't seem to understand business cards. Any way of rectifying this?

                                  i got mine on friday. its really good except for the slow textin, having to buy an sd card adapter and of course the crap camera.

                                    compare sony-ericsson k700,k700 is often crash once week average,and operate bit slow slow,and camera's voice so bad ,and the picture sometime has wave,I'm CRAZY .
                                    se go go go.
