Well that's just plain silly if O2 allow that shop to undercut them.
Stephen, as for Argos, if O2 haven't confirmed a delivery date, (which is very possible,) it will not show up in any stock/delivery reports, hence why he gets the 4+ weeks.
As for the IRDA, as it comes with a USB, removeable Mini-SD as well as the IRDA, does it really matter if you can't transfer everything via the IRDA? (I'd do it via USB personally.) (And yes the USB is included in the box!)

this may sound stupid but, does anyone know if the irda port will be of (for lack of a better word) a proper type?

as some phones don't seem to be able send data over them (such as a 7250i or a samsung v200) as i normally use this or bluetooth to send pictures on the cheap

ill be grateful to anyone who can help as this is the deciding factor to buy it or not (WHEN IT COMES OUT!!!!!!!!!!)

Mate has spoken to Spoke to some guys at Head Office in Purchasing (I work on systems testing through third party client) they have been given no official date other than sometime in Aug, hence the +4 weeks on stock control were he works and the Aug heading in the Catalogue - Hope its out soon.
May be worth keeping eye on phones 4u shops though, as GF got Samsung E600 on O2 - that was 2 weeks before the O2 shops in the northwest got it (was on contract though)- but they may also have had it on PAYG sooner then o2 themselves??

I got a leaflet from an O2 shop which announced that the o2 x3 was going to be available from the 2nd August. I had an o2 x1 but something went wrong with it, it was sent to o2 and it can't be fixed they say they are gonna give me the upgraded version do you think they will give me the x2 or x3?

If O2 haven't confirmed to Argos when it'll be available it will show as 4+ weeks on the stock control. (Or it may just be that Argos will get it late, but they state August delivery in catalogues.)
And the X2 wasn't advertised on the O2 website before release, so there is nothing new. In fact I can't remember a single new phone being advertised on O2 prior to release.

if it was coming on to the o2 website there would have been adverts by now . i reckon it will be longer than a week till we see this phone.

Yeah I realise that stock can come in quickly, but it will still show on a stock ccontrol system store end whats coming in and expected delivery dates etc, at the moment the phone is still showing +4 weeks ETA (according to my mate) Doubt that Phones 4u will have it cheaper than O2 themselves - esp as its only £200 to start with (V cheap)
Has anyone been into phones 4U to get the Aug Catalogue - I guess it will be in there with the price (though its not in the links Aug Cat)

How do you know it's gonna be on the site?

It's not on the Phones4U website as an "coming soon" phone, also the X2 isn't sold on the internet through them, so I can't see how or why they would sell the X3, undercutting the supplier, releasing it on the same day. Makes no sense and would be pretty suicidal of O2 to allow it.

Cant see it being cheaper in phones 4 u personally! - hope it appears on the O2 site soon :-)
Anyone got the August Phones 4U Catalogue - I Guess the price will be printed in there reasy for it coming in!

Sorry, but that is completely bizarre.
O2 online are still saying this week.
Why would O2 allow phones for you to sell the X3 on the same date for £20 less. There are some really odd stories going around, and that has got to be one of the worst.

I went into the O2 shop 2day and they said the 16th on the net and in the shops. And in phones4u they said the same. Its going to be £199.99 in the O2 Shop and £179.99 in phones4u which seems strange lol

O2 were spot on with the release of the other BenQ phone, O2's X2, May 1st. Can't understand why this one is causing a problem.

Yeah but that can change in a matter of hours. Having worked at one of the warehouses the stock can come in, be moved to the stock bay, then shipped out again in a shift. That means they can take delivery from O2 in the morning and, in theory, have it in stores the following day.
