i had the choice of the s700 or the samsung d500 both were round the £400 mark, but i chose the d500, because of the size tbh, and yeah the video was not that good on the s700, bth if there is one thing the x3 does good its the video recorder, best i seen

All my phones were the s/w version from Aug 04. S700 is alright. The Camera is heavy. 1.3 mega Pixel. Best I seen!!!
Video is a joke. It gives u a option of limited and unlimited but even when u put it on unlimited maximum video 2 mins
MP3 is nice. Only bad thing is SE phones take Memroy stick duo. max u can get is 128. You cant use memory stick duo pro.

Thanks for that nick, I don't see why we shouldn't be able to download the new firmware I mean thats what you do for other electrical things isn't it. I suppose it all depends on whether its made available. Has anyone changed from the 1.08 to the new version by download or have you had to change your handset?

Khalid, Hence why I chose the x3 over the k700i... the K700i is crap for Java... considering it has MIDP 1.0, as has all other SE. x3 however, has MIDP 2.0...

Chasey, thankyou... my point was explained. The person who asked about memory card readers, go to http://www.ebuyer.co.uk/
Almizer, 1. I hope we are able to download it. 2. Yes, the x3 does use profiles, plus a flight mode. Flight mode switches off communtication channels, so u can use the mp3 and camera functions while in a hospital or in an aircraft.
Khalid. What S/W did you have, do you know? I have I think the original software, and have had none of the problems you talk about.... :S

I was using my X3 fine thanks. 11 phones is not due to not using the phone properley. Had nothing to do with the sim either. Every phone I got came with a new sim. I was also using my contract sim in the phone as well. O2 even sent me a new contract sim and nothing changed. Like I said MMS worked for 5-7 days and then stopped working. You may think it's impossible the phone to say its sent but the MMS not recieved but thats what happened. I did all the tests with O2 Data Support and the in store staff and same result. They put my sim card in other phones and sent MMS and they went through. They put a different sim in my X3's and MMS still never got recieved.
I was pissed with the quality of camera but pleased with MP3 however MMS didnt work on all my phones which is just BS.
I aint stupid and know how to use a mobile phone.

Should be gettin this phone in the next few days, wow what a storm it kicks up! 2 questions:
1. If this new firmware comes out superseeding the latest will we be able to download it or will we have to swap the phone?
2. Does the phone have profiles a la the nokia system? No mention of that anywhere.
Oh yeah could the (supposed?) poor cam quality be due to a cmos sensor being used as apposed to a ccd (for those in the know about digi cams) no mention anywhere of the sensor but I had a mini flash video camera which was 3.1 mega pix (true - no interpolation)but due to the cmos sensor as apposed to ccd the quality was very poor (it was the mustek dv5000 btw).
Thanks

yeah you are right m8, as i just seen photos taken on a motorola E1000 witch is £200 and that also has a 1.3pix camera, and is also the same as the x3 out of focus, so you are right :)

chasey...
whats the sole difference between the parts used in a £200 phone and the parts used in a £370 phone?
Obviously the parts used in the £370 phone are going to be of a higher quality, no?
Lets face it, the parts are going to be cheaper in a £200 which incorporates a megapixel sensor, video capture, mp3 player, minisd slot? Am I right?

You have compared the 1.3MP camera on the x3 (£200) to a £300-£400 phone!!!

and below...
see me post a few lines below about people who bought the phone on the camera alone... you were probably very stupid... thats why i didnt put much effort looking into a phone with an excellent camera... I dont need one. Plus, how are we supposed to believe that the x3 is going off the production line, from someone who can't spell enjoy and also properly!!

"...now that is just not on, and i bet you this 02x3 phone will not be on sale in march, as it will be taken off line, because at the end of the day like others have said the phone was brought by %90 for the camera alone, so injoy your phone as it will be a rare phone soon "
No. o2 and benq are releasing a new firmware version very soon, so I have been told, so this "rare phone" will be very good! The camera will be improved and software made less buggy. It will do to the x3 what SP2 did to xp!
(made it better FYI :) )
