Hi God of the Sea, Poseidon, if u are a first time user of a pda phone, its going to be a challenge. However, its going to be a matter of time getting used to it. Yes, Atom has a touch screen number pad. Its rather difficult to choose between Nokia N80 & O2 Atom, u just need to ask yourself what u need it for before buying.

I heard from people that o2 atom takes a far more longer time to sync information comparatively with other o2 phones. Any o2 atom users can verify this? Im thinking of switching o2 mini to o2 atom and this is holding me back

Hello guys. Please help me. I'm confuse to choose between this O2 XDA Atom and Nokia N80. Which one should I buy? I'm used to have Nokia, and I never use PDA Phone before. Do you think it is difficult for me to use PDA Phone for the first time? Does O2 XDA Atom has "Dialpad" facility on its screen (like Dopod 818Pro)? So I don't have to use the stylus pen all the time, especially to write message.
            Thank you guys.

Love the device but why-oh-why didnt they integrate SMS / t9 with the phone client.

I dont want to do handwriting recognition to send an SMS - I want to do it like I do on my nokia phone - one handed, use t9, use the big buttons on the keypad of the phone dialler... Who the heck in Microsoft didnt think this was a good idea? Jeez. I cant find any 3rd party apps to do this for me on wm5 - seriously this has majorly compromised this for me.

Also - what is with the fact that you have to have the system volume turned up to get SMS notifications - so you get all the 'blips' and 'clicks' for cliking on stuff - you cant have it run silent but still notify you for SMS - it works fine for ringtones you can have the PDA run 'silent' but it still rings (if you want) for Phone incoming calls - but not for SMS... again great idea.not.

Just wondering whether we can install Microsoft Pocket PC 2003 SE in Atom??
Because the problem Atom might have is the instability of windows 5.0, thats from what I read from all the opinions. FYI I am still confused what PDA I want to buy, I am considering between ATOM and M600. Any suggestion??

hi, thanks Steve, yes I've done re-calibrate my Atom but it still the same, even the service person try it n he find the same thing n not just that if you pres the letter "s" and i mean that u press the "s" every time like "ssssssssssssss" normaly (not to fast) n some times it became enter or even deleted the "ssssssssssssss" that i wrote n before i used Atom i used O2 mini n if u say i accidentally hold the Atom and part of my finger came into contact with the screen i think not because i try it by putting my atom on the table n the result is the same like i hold it. N thanks again steve.

                      Archana,

You will loose all your data. I did that once and lost it all. Good luck!

Just thought I would pass along some information I have found out about this unit.
I own both a T-Mobile MDA (TI OMAP850 200mhz) and have receintly purchased an O2 XDA Atom (Intel PXA 416mhz). Before you buy either one of these devices consider what your intent for useage is whether business or play. If you are a business user such as I am both are a serious disappointment. The problem becomes very apparent when you use the PIM. I have about 800 companies and service agents in my contacts database. When I go to search for a particular company and type in a search string it takes almost 2 minutes for the device to react. This is the same for both units. The alphabet bar across the top of the contacts screen should short cut you directly to that portion of the alphabet. This does not function either on both phones. Bottom line is the Windows 2005 is a dinasaur and is far too complex of an OS to run on a PDA or Smartphone. It does not matter what processor you have. If you are buying either phone to be stylish well, consider the cost.

I am sorely dissapointed and you will see both of my devices on Ebay in the next few days.

Hi, did you re-calibrate your screen? are you touching more than one part of the touch screen, i.e. stylus at "a" but thumb at "k"? Sounds like the touch screen is being touched at multiple points. Perhaps you accidentally hold the Atom and part of your finger came into contact with the screen? I never have this problme and none of my friends who own atom complained about this either.

I have already serviced it n even The O2 dealer have gave me a new product but i still find the same problem, do every body in this forum find the same problem with me? please message me if one can solve or help me n thanks

O2 Atom can read and write Chinese right out of the box provided you get the Chinese version of the phone. It is available in HK, but not sure if it is available anywhere else. It is a traditional Chinese version, probably not suitable for Singapore/Malaysia/PRC.

Which one is better, O2 XDA Atom or O2 XDA Mini S? Thanks for the answers.

Email and Active Sync work very well with this device. I installed the latest BIOS from the O2 website and that improved performance a little bit.

My main problem is that the phone is terrible. People can barely hear me when I talk into the phone. Does anyone else have this problem?

rastaman, my Atom runs fine. Most of the time at 728MHz.

                                        1. I have no echo at all, no one ever complains of voice quality when they call me.
                                        2. I have no problem at all with media player.
                                        3. I have no problem with 900Mhz.

I am sure other Atom users can share their experience as well. I suggest you return your Atom for service, you probably have a defective unit.
