Yup, the icon with the Microphone and the Red Cross at the bottom of the menu bar is the mute button.
Sky:
When considering the O2 Mini, don't think about the camera quality. The images captured by the camera (even though rated at 1.3MP) is terrible. Even a VGA camera from Nokia, Samsung or SE is better than it.
Upgrading the firmware doesn't help at all.
Therefore, it makes one wonder if this is actually a 150K pixel camera which is interpolated to 1.3MP.
Going into the HTC's website doesn't help either....Is there anyone working for HTC, O2, Imate, Qtek reading this post? Would appreciate if they can comment on this issue.
But, despite the flaws with the camera, the rest of the phone/PDA function makes up for it. That is why this phone is selling like hot cakes. The only way to have your cake and eat it (wrt to the camera quality) is to wait for a couple of years for the CCD/CMOS sensor to improve and get the later models. But, can you wait? Hehe...

Wow, its great to find a web page with so many comments and opinions on the Mini.
Ive asked my friend to get me one in HK. Should get it by the beginning of next week.
Im expecting good things from this phone/ppc, but after reading some of the comments I feel nervy about buying it. Especially with the below par camera everyone's been tallkinh about. Is it realy that bad??
Can anyone reassure me that im not making a bad decision on getting it. Especially if there were to be any faults I don't want to have to send it back to HK for repairs or replacement.

Hi Twirl
Yes, the Mini has a built-in Handsfree mode.
Just hold on to the green lighted phone button on the left dialpad for about 3 secs or until the handsfree icon shows up on the menu bar.
With regards to the SD GPS card, I think you shd stay away from them. There are some reviews saying that the SD card GPS is not sensitive or accurate. Better to have a Bluetooth GPS. That's why we got the Bluetooth one instead.
Furthermore, once you plug in a SD GPS, you may not have enough memory to run the GPS Map. Some of the commercially available maps take up to 3-8MB of memory. If you use the SD slot for the GPS receiver, you don't have enough memory in your main memory to run the application....Just my two cents worth..

Just a couple of question?
Does the Mini has a Handsfree Speaker Phone Built in, can't seem to find it on a friends unit or is it just available on the XDAIIS?
I have a IPAQ 5550 currently which I quite like, I would like to run a SD card GPS, should I get the 02 Mini(for its size) or the XDAIIS, I know the memory on the mini might be a little small with the SD GPS installed but I could probably live with that?

Got my mini back.Nothing wrong with the set as I tested it with another new unit at Carrfour. It has everything to do with the GPRS settings. Cos my access point should be mobilenet rather than sunsurf as my simcard is the old type one. So even autoconfig also dont work for me. I got to manually configure the access point to Mobilenet.

The casing is still silver in colour, but you can get the silicon wrap are actually coloured white, blue, pink, green and clear.
However, the new version of the O2 Mini is actually Titanium or Gun Metal in colour which they called Midnight Grey. Kinda nice too.
Tetsu,
That will depend on your needs. If you need built-in wife with a larger screen, get the IIs. But if not, the Mini should be OK. Somehow, using a full-size PDA as a phone is a big turn off for me.

Hello Mel,
I encountered similar problem before. Was able to connect to internet, but after installing some programs and doing a couple of soft reset, the GPRS setting went haywire.
I run AutoConfig under Programs and got everything back to normal.

Hi Dinesh
The steps mentioned are based on my local ISP's settings. I went to their webpage and followed the settings. Therefore, I am sure your ISP should have similar settings to follow. Configuration for mail settings is only one portion. You have to make sure your phone is able to access the either the GPRS/MMS before you can configure it for your mail.
