English version of the PPC 2003 able to use CE Star Suite for chinese reading and input. i'm using it right now.

To outaru,

try to set ur phone no format of ur contacts.

To all,

whether u all update ur Mini with the latest ROM update @ myxda.com website? after update, e bluetooth function fixed. but the camera has no quality change.

    I have done several hard resets and had to erase my configurations and settings. Still cannot get the internet connections. It says the answering modem has disconnected...To check your connection settings and change them if needed..tap settings..hmm..am going back to carrfour to check it out first...maybe the set is really defective..

      hi All,
      Just got a XDAII mini fromm HK for HKD4200 from the electronic street market near mong kong. I actually live in New Delhi India. Well the head speaker went bad just within 1 week and I have to go for local repairs, presently living on ear kit and speaker phone feayure till its reapired.
      Though found it good but still learning on its features.
      A help if Fotonutz or any one can provide. I went through the configuration u mentioned for email account but though i have GPRS on and can also browse on the IE still cannot get mail from my accounht on the mini gives me an error. I went thru the 7 steps mentioned by u but could not get it ok.

        Whoa dude....3 days is a good record :-) Hehehe....crashed mine within 4 hours and had to perform had reset.

        Rather than to return it to Carrefour, can't you just perform a hard reset ? It normally works for me.

        There is no way to set the SMS ringtone on the storage card. It must be run on the \Windows directory. The only to keep the filesize small is to encode it to a lower bitrate, ie 11khz or 22khz at 8bit.
        But, sound quality will be reduced. Hopefully someone can come up with a patch that will allow MP3 or midi files to be set as SMS alert tones.

          hi all,great news, finally my O2 mini crashed on me after 3 days.Now I am not able to connect to internet even though my GPRS is on. M1 staff checked for me and the settings are right.going back to carrfour and get an exchange tomorrow.

            hi o2 mini goddess, fotonutz,

            just bought o2 mini, nice handphone with great features ,like it :).but i find that i need wav file for sms ringtone which is just too big. i have a question here. can u set ur sms ringtone from ur storage card since the primary storage is inadequate for big files like wav files?

              my text messeges inbox show contacts phone number, it doesnt show contacts name though contact name is already saved on my phonebook... HELP

                Hi All,
                Does anyone knows if O2 mini has a software suite just like nokia phones whereby you can send sms through your desktop by through infra red ?

                  Hi all! I'm using XdaII now. Any opinion from ex-XdaII user who uses Mini now? Is it possible to have Mini load with English ver. of CE and text in Chinese at the same time?

                    Hi Moti

                    Think SamShuiPo Electronic Centre should be cheaper. Went there last time and the prices are cheaper than in SG. Some of the shops in Sim Lim Square (electronics mall) are selling the Mini for S$998 or about HK$4710. If you can get a trade-in like what Blubot suggested, it will be less painful on the pocket.

                    Is HK facing a shortage of the Mini too?
                    Does the Mini in HK come with any Chinese input like CE Star or Monster Chinese?

                      moti, you can buy the mini in wanchai computer center...price is approx. 5300HKD incl. 256MD card. But you should Order it with any of the mobile operators i.e. CSL, where you can trade in your old mobile...and get additional discounts I got my mini for HKD 4500 (after trade in), which is around USD 580.
                      Other places where to buy the mini:
                      - Broadway electronics
                      - Fortress
                      - SamShuiPo electornic centre
                      should not be more than HKD 5400

                        Hi Keen
                        The ringtone for group can be assigned in PHOTO CONTACTS, EDIT, ASSIGN RINGTONE. But before you can do that, you need to create a Group first. Simple as that.
                        Mel: Copy all the program files into your SD card. If you copy it into the ROM, you won't have much memory left to execute the files. Get a low-memory warning. As for the Wifi, the programs will reside in the Mini and not the SD because it presumes you don't have anymore SD slot (taken up by Wifi). However, if you purchase the Sandisk Wifi 256MB, you can install it into the SD card...well, as least I think so.

                            Hi Keen/Fotonutz,thanks a lot.I drag the files to the storage place.Perfect!. I have a 6 in 1 reader, I dunno if the mini SD card can fit in but will try once the transfer is done. 2 questions here. Anyone who has bought the WiFi card and try it out with their mini ? Is it advisable to install yr program exe files on yr SD card instead of in the ROM ?

                                Keen, you must check the BEAM box in order to send and receive files. If that box is not checked, you can't send out anything even though the BT is enabled.
                                Managed to transfer some songs over to my uncle's S700i during the CNY gathering.
                                Check the Beam box at the Power Settings and see if it works again.

                                  Hi Mel,

                                  Glad to see another O2 user onboard....
                                  I think you transferred your songs into the Storage area and NOT STORAGE CARD. The Storage area only has 7MB, which is why you can only managed to transfer about 3 songs or less.

                                  As what Keen had mentioned, try and get hold of a flash card reader. This will aid in the transfer of files, especially big files.

                                    dear all,

                                    i have some issues on the Mini's bluetooth. I detect my friend SE S700 with bluetooth and e phone bluetooth is on as well. but i tried to transfer a file from S700, it said connection failed. The beam function box is unchecked.
                                    what is the proper way to send files from other devices or phones?Thanks.

                                      hi Mel,

                                      if u have a SD card reader, just download songs u like into the card using the card reader. it's faster.

                                      if u r using active sync, there r 2 My documents. 1 is in ur mini ROM and another in the storage card. use active sync explore to my device then storage card. copy the songs into the windows, then u'll have ur favourite songs in ur SD card.

                                        great phone! i was a bout to buy 7710 then i go to gsm arena looked for reviews.. then.. i found xda II mini! the best pda phone! i have it for about 6 hours now! this is just way better than 7710!
