Most PDA's do play MP3's.

A good site to go on to compare is

http://www.davespda.com/resources/compare/

it compares up to 5 PDA/Smaartphone/mobile Phone/windows mobile devices against each other.

It helped me choosing a phone before i bought my XDA IIs.

Hope this helps

Is there a phone out there like this one that has a flash? I know there's this one and then one from Qtek too but is there one with a flash for GSM Carriers?

Throw away this phone. Just sold it off and lost Sgd900/-. Reception is very poor. Lots of eacho behind. Always hangs and have to reset the phone everyday, otherwise, the first caller always cannot hear my voice. Buy it and you will be sorry!

          Hi again, I found a few great pieces of software for the IIs;

NoviiMedia remote control - you can turn the xda into a universal remote control, 10 day trial period, £20 to buy best version £10 for a slightly older version - it works brilliantly and so easy to set up. I can control my hi-fi, tv, vcr, iPod speakers, dvd player and anything that i own with an infra-red remote control. You can even customize the look of the control!

ThemeGenerator: You can use it on the phone or the PC, I choose to not have it on the xda as it is a hefty file, but you can take your fav pictures, turn them into desktops for the phone, but also change the colours of the text on the today screen, the navigation bar colour, command bar colour, alert bar colour etc - really simple software

I also downloaded SuDoku for the xda, othello, and a couple of other free games.

My advice to anyone is to go onto www.download.com and searcg 'pocket pc' in software, then you get hundreds of cool ideas.

This is my second pocket pc, and it is a million times better than my last one.

Seeing as i have it perfectly tuned now, does anybody have any proper advice on conducting backups??? Its just that I would hate to lose all this data.

Just mentioning the 'crashing' problem with the xda's - i tried switching to corporate, but that deletes things like the battery icon which i like, so i upgraded the ROM of my device - its really simple - you can get from the O2 website. My deviced hasn't crashed since and I hacen't had to soft reset for weeks.

          Thanks

Clive, I had a similar problem, I downloaded a program called 'screen lock'.

It works brilliantly. Basically, it locks everything, and to unlock it you have to hold the calendar button (top right-hand corner) and the messaging button (second from the left of the four hot keys) simultaneously.

It works really well, and I put it into the folder windows>startmenu so that it takes 2 touches to activate.

I highly recomend. Oh, and anothjer plus is that you can still answer calls and hang up etc.

                    Hope this helps

i think this phone is not bad at all. i purchase it a few weeks ago. it does hang a it sometimes. i flash the hp to rom 1.40.00 it seem a bit slower now then but not really that bad. i install some software and it works like a charm. watching video or listening to music is a blast. the screen is big enough to display the whole MTV clip..Anyway i would like to add some chinese software inside so i can read/view/write chinese, but i don't where to look for it, please anyone out there help me out. i really appreciate it. i am using 1gb DNA dv rs-mmc, it is blinding fast.

Thank you... god bless all of you..

I purchased my lls in November 05 and on the whole am very happy with it. But recently it is dropping the 'backlight brightness' (on battery only) to minimum, at random. Requiring a trip to a dark room to adjust back up.
Another trick is on receiving an incoming call the caller cannot be heard, rings again & again, requiring a soft reset to solve.
Anyone else with same problems. Ver. 1.40.00(923WWE)
                              Cheers Chris (Sydney)

Had this XDA for nearly a year now. Initially, it used to hang a few times a day. Then i deleted the "Connections" executable and was more stable but still seemed to hang more often than i would expect from a Microsoft device. When i upgraded to the latest ROM, i decided to change to Corporate mode. This has stabilised my device immensely and i have had no problems since. Of course, a soft reset around twice a week still needs to be done to get rid of little errors but the device as a whole does not hang any longer. I have TomTom Navigator installed and travelled 500 miles last weekend without a glitch. My advice: Only get one if you know what you are doing. This device is not for amateurs.

                                  Hi there,

I got this phone about 3 days ago and I have been reading all the problems about it. I see that the main problem seems to be the freezing of the phone, which can easily be fixed by going into the file: My Device ? Windows > Startup, and deleting the 77B sized file called 'Connections' which removes the 'O2' icon from the screen which slows up the device.

I did this on the first day and I noticed that it also removed the battery meter from my main display screen. I love this meter as it is so useful, so I decided to download the latest ROM upgrade from the website.

This then put the O2 icon back onto the screen and also the battery meter. Tjis upgrade is said to sort out all the freezing problems. I have not yet had any problems, however have not been using it under any heavy use.

One bad problem is that before I upgraded this software, I had a stable internet conection via the Wi-Fi through my home network. However, every time I try to connect to the network it always turns on the GPRS (mobile) and GPRS (O2 actice) settings, but fails to allow me to browse successfully.

Has anyone sorted out this problem and do they know how to fix it.

I am not a fan of performing hard resets, as I have changed alot of settings to my phone that I really do not want to change back.

I know that you can select the 'corporate' option after perfoming a hard reset, which also removes the O2 icon from the screen. Does anyone know if setting the phone to corporate mode removes the battery meter from the screen???

For everyone who is having problems with their MP3 ringtone settings, download 'Smart Audio Converter'. This program converts MP3 settings to WAV(PCM) files, which is accepted as the ringtone for the phone. The trial version only converts 60% of the original MP3 file, but how long do you want to take to answer your calls, if the average song is about 3 minutes long, then thats still around 1 minute 40 seconds of ringtone, which I find to be more than enough. After you have converted your music, connect your device using ActiveSync and put these converted files into: My Device > Windows > Rings (You can only fit around 3 songs, but you only need 1 ringtone at a time, so it's fine for this).

I had an Eten M500 PDA before the O2 XDA IIs, and it was an excellent phone, but as it is such a non-known phone, I could not set up any MMS settings and there were problems with the software. It is currently still in repair.

Even after 3 days, my O2 XDA IIs is definately 100% better than the Eten.

For all those who are querying buying the IIs, I highly recoment this. I read pretty much every comment in this forum before buying my phone, and I found that the main problems with this phone was the freezing. People who commented saying things like "worst phone ever" and "biggest pile of junk" etc, obviously had not tried deleting the 'connections' file or upgrading the software.

The camera is only a VGA, but it is definately good enough for photo contacts. I have not experienced any problems with bluetooth as yet, so maybe it is a faulty batch or something.

Along with any advice for my GPRS problems, does anyone have any advice for any really good downloadable software (preferably free of charge) for the O2 XDA IIs, that really makes a difference (things like the battery meter, Pocket PC games etc).

I would love to find somewhere that I can download games free of charge, but I have not had alot of experience with this area of the phone yet, and don't know how available this is.

                                  Any advice would be great.

                                  Thanks.

Having used this PDA for quite a while for work I have found it to be both stable and reliable. Their is a must list that has kept me from having the same troubles some of the others have had.
1 Active Sync is there for a reason - you should use it at all times or you should expect trouble.
2 The bluetooth headsets that sooo many of the others have been upset about should be returned (my retailer actually gave me a few to choose from free-of-charge) and replaced with one that developes a more solid sync. (call your voicemail and stay on line for 2-3mins to check stability.
                                      3. If the unit is faulty, replace it with a product of equal or superior quality. Know your consumer rights. If the product is so bad and everybody returns it, it will make them think twice before inflicting us with rubbish.

Oh on a personal note mine is super, i have already sold the upgrade and kept the IIs

UPDATE TO last weeks "PETER" comment re PARROT CONNECTIVITY from an XDAIIs

Although not described in the Parrot instruction book - their web-site tells you that you have to tell the Parrot that it is talking to a WINDOWS DEVICE - once you do that - it connects effortlessly!!!
