Used it for only 2 months... Touch Screen Problems, always misalign and the F and G keys are difficult to depress. Service Centre in Malaysia is pretty good, 2 days replacement for a new touch screen! While at the Service Centre, there were so many O2 IIs coming in for repairs, its shocking!!!

    Hi all!
Just 8 weeks to go before I get the great pleaseure to put this "phone(y)" in the blender!

As mentioned before this phone has issues...it pretends to be the perfect out of office assistance but fails dismaly with its poor performance.

On a lighter note I did recently upgrade the ROM on the phone and this has made it a lot more stable. Blue tooth works more reliably and you get the new media player 10 too. But, the GPRS connection has gone walkies.

My advice, if you are one of the many experiencing problems, as mentioned before in this thread, please find the ROM upgrade from your phone provider and install it (please check with them first for warranty purposes); tryt to run it natively...not additional software like Tom Tom; backup, backup, backup; and chnage the phone when your contract runs out!

Having removed the O2 logo (which caused the device to "freeze" I have fond the Xda IIs a very good device. I have one problem however and I hope someone has the solution.

I have purchased a "PARROT" bluetooth hands free unit for the car BUR my XdaIIs refuses to "auto-connect" - instead I have to go to Programs/Bluetooth Manager/click on the hands-free connection to Parrot/select "connect" - and then wait: It usually takes between 2 and 8 attempts before a succesful connection is achieved.

My car-installer says it is my "phone's fault" - has anyone had a similar problem and has anyone found a solution please

You can’t use MP3 as a ringtone. You will havta convert it either to wav. or midi. There is loads of software floating around the web. Look for MP3 to wav converter or something. I’m currently using samsung’s music converter that came with the phone.

If you need anymore help, I’ll be glad to help!

        Semper Fi,

For those who have visited this site and are frequent vistors. We all need rigorous training to know the prowess of this XDA IIs. As for myself, I request any of you proffesionals to help me load MP3 file as my ring tone as it only takes wav files as ring tones and not MP3. I tried copying and pasting MP3 ring tones in the RINGS folder of the WINDOW folder. Is it due to tbig size of MP3 file that an MP3 file is not accepted as ring tone or is there any good method to take MP3 files as ring tones. Please Assist. I hope O2 is listening.

I have the O2 XDA IIs. The phone is quite functional. I've read other users complain about the device not performing properly, but perhaps they simply are not familiar with a pda/phone device. I use the device for my:
            Blackberry (via blackberry connect)
            Phone
Browser (via wi-fi w/ personal hi speed network)
wireless modem (via usb cable not bluetooth)
Gps (via Gps 10 from Garmin)
            Pocket Nintendo
            Pocket Bible (via quickverse)
MP3 player (via motorola HT820 bluetooth headphones)
            Pocket Dictionary (via lextionary)
            Camera (for work)
The only negatives i can mention about the device are:
            the 2.5 mm headset jack
sometimes the phone needs to be reset in order to turn on the wi-fi
sometimes the phone needs to be reset in order to read the 1gb SD card
Bluetooth on the handsfree profile has static

This phone in short is awesome. It is the best pda/phone i have encountered. It blows the HP (6300 & 6500) and the treo 700 away. It's more reliable and has more features. there is also a forum out there just devoted to upgrading this phone (WIKI) so in short on a scale of 1 to 10 i rate this a 9 only because of the negatives i mentioned.

I have had an XDA iis for about a year - I can;t wait to get rid of the damn thing!

I use it for GPS - crashes without fail on every journey.

              Crashes when someone rings me.

Crashes if you look at it funny.

My advice is do not buy one - I have been ridiculed beyoned belief when in the car on holiday or going to meetings with colleagues and it crashes just when you need to know where to go next the most!

              RUBBISH.

I've got an O2 XDAIIs, and really wish I hadn't. I wanted a PDA for work and had a choice, do I go for a PDA with built-in GPS and have a separate work phone cluttering up the dashboard, or a PDA/phone and add a Bluetooth GPS pack on later? Having a phone that will sync with my work PC, including all my contacts from outlook, and allow me to call them on the move SEEMED like a good idea, but it's actually been nothing but trouble. The loss of sound during a call, the backlight having a mind of its own, full reset if I tried to change the battery, I’ve had it all. And then I tried adding Tom Tom Navigator 5, and all hell broke loose! When running this the XDA was either dead slow or just plain dead. I sent it back to O2 three times before they finally acknowledged that it was a duff unit and replaced it. Seems to be ok now, but here’s my advice: you want a business phone, get a phone. You want a PDA for GPS purposes, get a dedicated one of those. For the money I’ve spent on this thing so far I could have had a Garmin M5 for navigation, and used the separate SPV C500 that was on offer from work.

I bought one recently. The sound from the ear piece keeps muting repeatedly. I can make and receive phone calls but cannot hear the voice on the other end. Costing extra in phone calls because the connection is being established but no communication.I have to reset it frequently, then it works for a while. Very frustrating due to the unpredictabiity of the problem, it would freeze any moment requiring restting.Battery operating time is not ideal.Goes flat very quickly. Poor product support.Web site has no contact phone numbers in australia.I suggest people looking for PC phone to consider alternative brand.

I've had my xdaIIs for 3 months now and I really enjoyed using it for the first 2 months only since all my downloaded software suddenly "disappeared" from my program list just when the e-book i was reading was so exciting already. my problem now is that i can't open the same software again after downloading it. can anyone help me? the O2 customer service is very slow in responding to my query. thanks...

This phone is the worst piece of garbage ever foisted on us by money hungry shysters rushing products to market before they actually work.

It crashes repeatedly and even hard resets itself while in your pocket loosing EVERYTHIN

yes folks Microsoft have actually created an OS which HAS TO HAVE BATTERY POWER or EVERYTHING GOES (the memory is VOLATILE - if you loose power you loose EVERYTHING - Nice work Bill and co. How is it Nokia and SYmbian realise the cell phone batteries die while you are out and about and the last thing you want is to have to run home in anguish in case you loose all your data.

This phone REALLY REALLY SUCKS. I have run TOMTOM on it and the fragility of it is truly jaw droppingly bad. For a while it was crashing 4 or 5 times on a 3 hour journey and actually went down on me and did a hard reset when I was lost in Central London in the rush hour.

THIS PHONE IS NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE DONT BUY IT.

Everyone I know who has one HATES it

I fail to understand how it gets glowing reports from anyone. I think they must work for the company.

Ive had a really really bad year with this phone and would really strongly recommend that you DONT BUY IT.

In fact its SO BAD i intend to kill it in the garden with a silver nail knocked through its silicon heart and then bury it as I wouldnt even GIVE it to someone as its THE MOST PAINFUL PHONE TO LIVE WITH I HAVE EVER HAD.

Which is a great shame as its NEARLY ok

                          Typical Windows rubbish really

                          STEER WELL CLEAR

                          PLEASE!!!

I purchased the xda mini about 2 weeks ago. I think this phone is the best phone iv ever had! But iv nether had a pda before. There are loads of things you can do with this phone took me a while to get the hang of it though. in fact i am still getting the hang of it. In the past week i found LOADS of great software for it!Easy to install too. Just at first i didnt realise ya had to use active sync. I just tryed copying the files accross and opening them on the pda. obously it didnt work! I think iv had to hard reset about 4 times now. Mainly because i deleted things i shouldnt of have or because of rubish software that wouldnt uninstall properly. I have found it does hang sometimes and does completly crash even the on/off button wouldnt work. just removed the battery. One thing that annoyed me was i found that if i wanted a picture as my background when i opened the keyboard the picture disapeared and wouldnt come back! Best thing you can do is remove all the 02 software visit this website for a guide on how to do this http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2360081
its so much faster and stable once it is removed. It also solved my problem with having a picture as a background. Overall i would recommend this phone. I give the phone 9 out of 10 as for the o2 software -1 out of 10! oh yea i got tomtom on it too and it looks coo,l just havnt been able to use it yet as i am still waiting for my gps reciever.

I purchased this IIs a month ago, everything is great. I ran in a little problem, I yet to find a perfect working bluetooth headset for this PDA. I've tried over 10 different models from different brand and all I get is static on call when i put the phone on my lap or have it on my belt.

                                Any Suggestion?
                                thanks in advance.

The XDAiis on the face of it is a very nice proposition. However, only 9 months having took delivery of the phone, I was left with little more than a piece of messy plastic and metal in my hands. The metal case is very easy to scratch and dent (marks very easily if dropped and I as amazed to find it even suffered a nasty dent when I dropped it on the office carpet!), the stylus only fitted the holder tightly for the first week - then it started rattling around and went missing very easily, the quality of the phone is shocking. People would keep saying your fading, as the microphone would fade in and out and the speaker would often crackle - loud speaker was also as good as useless when you were driving, and finally and prossibly the most annoying it had a terrible tendency to hang and drag when you interchanged between programmes. My first of three XDAiis also suffered from dropping bluetooth devices as and when it choose to, but this glitch was ironed out with later models. On the positive side, you don't see school children with these, they are 'kinda' exclusive, the menu's are very easy to navigate, and software is easy to come by with a bit of searching on the net. I have now taken delivery of a new XDA Mini S, and the difference is overwhelming (read my review in the XDA Mini S section for more details). If you are new to the XDA market, go with the later models.
