i have a strange problem.. my call timer doesnt reflect the correct usage on the phone. Does anyone have any idea to why this is the case. My xda is a week old and i have made calls atleast for 100 mins but it just shows me a mere 45 mins. I was hoping that I cld use this to check my inclusive minutes but this will not be the case if this continues. Please help.. reply to sandeepmn@gmail.com

hi everyone, just about to receive my o2xda mini s. Having read all your reviews it seems that i should remove all the o2 stuff on the phone.
Can someone either post or email me at alps911@ntlworld.com instructions how to do this please.
Thanks in advance. Take care you all.

Bought an XDA Mini S late last year and ahd performance and hanging issues with it from day one. Ran like a pig. Constantly hanging, especially when using the phone. Re built the thing (not using the O2 skin) and it is working like a dream. the way to go about this is if you go to SETTINGS and then the SYSTEM tab you will see the icon for 'CLEAR STORAGE'. That's what you want. Beware, it will completely reinstall the device. You will loose any data/contacts etc that are stored on the unit.

When the reinstallation starts, you will be given 3 installation options. I can tell you from experience, that you want to avoid putting the O2 shell back on. That is the cause of all of the performance issues with these otherwise excellent devices. Select the 'CORPORATE' install. You will need to enter the code 0506 on the number pad at the bottom of the screen. From there on it is self explanatory.

I can tell you now, since I rebuilt mine (took about 4 attempts to get it right mainly because of the 0506 code not being used and then the install defaults to the O2 shell) it is like a different device and for all of the right reasons. No hangs, snappy between aps and all compatible software now installs correctly that would not install under the O2 shell.

The only issue with this is that all of the settings (MMS, WAP, GPRS etc) will have to be set manually as the O2 shell automatically sets all of this up. After some heated phone calls to O2, I was eventually sent the procedure that their call centre people follow to set everything up. Once these settings were entered not a single problem since.

If you want the set up sheet let me know.

Top phone, and i think it's cool. having spend the night reading up on the xda. i have heard that the phone will run alot better it u take off the o2 software. they talk about a hard reset and setting up the phone from there. i have tryed but i don't seem to be able to get to the reset point.. i can see the reset hole by the IR.

can any 1 tell me how i would go about getting back to the start point...

many thanx and thanx for the info about what stops the key pad disapearing.!!!

Hey, just curious. Is this the same phone that tmobile.com has branded as the T-mobile MDA? It has the same features looks the same but rebranded. I'm just curious because I can get it cheaper there than other websites... I wouldn't wana get the phone and find out that it only has bluetooth 1.2 or some lesser features than this model. Any info would be great... Thanks

Bought this phone about 6 weeks ago. I am really pleased with it, this has changed my life. I showed my dad and brother, they both now have one !!

There are some small glitches, but when you consider everything this offers, then its no different to the problems you get with your PC, opening too much can cause problems requiring reboot. From what I have heard all XDA/PDA have some problems.

I discovered the same as BobH, that closing applications without a name usually stops the phone pad, since leaving it, I had no problems. Not quite worked out the wifi yet, need more time to setup and understand etc.

Can you get more games for this ? the ones it came with are a bit tame. The music player is great, I bought a 1GB card from mobilefun.co.uk for about £37, and have loaded lots of music on. The Bluetooth works really well with my car kit.

Battery life not brilliant, but again you have to remember there is a lot going on, it’s a lot more than a phone. I have found that the longer I have had it the better the battery gets, which could be the battery and probably that I am using it rather than playing opening everything to see what it is.

I cant customise the “custom” menu some reason, any one else managed to do this ?

I also have an O2 icon on the left hand menu, but it does nothing ?

Overall, great phone/tool, and would recommend to anyone.

The dial pad disappearing is probably due to you closing the phone application in the Task Manager by mistake. For some reason this stops it working unless you reset the device. The phone application is listed as a task in Task Manager but with no name and usually an incorrect icon like the Word icon. Try it - click on a task with no name and click on 'Switch To'. It usually takes you to the phone app.

My battery meter disappeared from the Today screen too. Even so, when going to Start->Settings->Today->Items it was listed as an item that should appear. Going back to the today screen it then appears! But later on it disappears again. This has only started happening after 2 months of owning it. I have now moved the battery meter up the list on the settings screen to just below the date. Ever since it now always appears.

My battery meter has gone from today too, and I am setup from basic. It is not in the today setting list. Is this something that goes when you get rid of the O2 stuff on there?

I just purchased one through o2 Germany after renewing my contract. The only problem is, it is in German and I can't change the language to English because the Windows 5.0 is the German software. Any suggestions?
