im sorry rachel but as you say your handset should not be doing the things taht you have noted , a few key points to remember with XDA mini you definetly need a memory card also you need to make sure that if you are installing applications you save them to the storage card as the memory is low on the xda as far as program data storage .

also make sure you close any applications using task managher as this will just eat up the proccessor power and cause it to crash .

i would suggest that if your handset has gone wrong within the waranty period that you find a copy of your contract or some other proof of puchase and take it to carphone warehouse where they will providing it is a warantee fault and you have proof of purchase repair your phone for free and it should only take two weeks . in future if your not happy with o2 direct maybe you should try o2 through the carphone warehouse , its run like a totally different network and the customer services are awesome , i accidently blew up my XDA by putting amotorola charger in it and they had it fixed in 10 days for free .

i would say you need to pursue other routes as far as getting your hand set repaired .

I am very disappointed with my o2 XDA mini. Having had it for less than 4 months it has now completely crashed and o2 have been less than helpful. There is a 3 week wait for repairs, that is if you can get o2 to agree that it needs to be seen!

When it works the gadget is great. When it crashes you are on your own and in my case I am still expected to pay my monthly charge for a functionless unit.

I will not renewing any contract with o2 and could recommend this product to anyone, based on my experience

Its a good handset so far. Its for all those people who live their lives around the office. If your an average person who just loves their gadgets then your just asking to get robbed. There is no way your gona get on the bus in manchester with that phone and not get robbed. Its internal features are very good indeed. My over all score for this phone is 95%.

there seem to be a lot of posts about the XDA crashing . now i've owned one for about 9 months and have not experienced it crashing since i found task manager.

BE WARNED......when you "X" a program it does not close it , it minimises it . which will slow down and eventually crash your XDA .

you need to open task manager and close down any un-neccesary programs . to avoid the crashing issue.

also the handset wont accept MP3 as ring tones what you need to do is convert them to ".WAV" files to use as ring tones .

XDAs Rock if you want windows mobile buy one of these .

if tyou want a phone to be phone not a computer buy a d900

if you like RPGs and you want a good one for your XDA/ windows m obile 5 hanset.

check out the scummVM engine . the engine used for the monkey island games , and indiana jones (point and click )

you'll need the pocket scummvm version.

be carefull though i made the mistake of downloadingh it fronm my handset as the engine is 2.5mb thats 12 quid and the actual game to run in the engine was 7.5 so in total ive cost myself 50 quid over one game . but hey its awesome .

Too heavy, sound quality poor, stylus falls out (lost), ring tones limited, never used the keyboard,or word, or excel all in all too complex and not all explained in the manual.

Thechnically impressive, but who needs all the features, also it does jams a lot and you have to reboot!

Not going to go for such a phone again, renewing with a good simple phone, to make phone calls on!

I own one of it. Its a great phone. A little too big to handle. The OS sometimes need rebooting, it hangs. I worry about the sliding keypad, but so far so good. I got a great deal on it in the APAC. The phone color begins to wear off with usage. I wish it didnt. It gives it a worn and torn look. The screen needs a scrath guard. Otherwise its fab.

to set the ringtone find the mp3 hold down the pointer on it(sort of like right click) and then select set as ring tone. wait a few seconds then it should say that it has been copied to the folder and it is all good. or you could copy the song streight into the windows/rings folder.
