This phone sucks without capacitive keys, when using camera app how are you supposed to press the back button to leave the app, you have to flick up every time to press back button.

Anonymous, 29 Nov 2017May I ask you to explain simply about Google's Project Treb... moreIn brief, I do not change phone very often. I am more into the software sure of things than hardware and do not require latest and greatest hardware beyond a short period after the purchase.
Therefore I try to buy a phone that I believe at the time of purchase will give me the longest possible combination of support in the form of keeping me up to date with the most recent build of Android possible for my device. Initially I expect this support from the manufacturer for the usual two years or thereabouts Once this support window lapses, I turn to support from custom ROM developers in the Android enthusiast community, primarily LineageOS to stay up to date as possible.
You are correct when you say I am not on an Oreo device, but I am now on the lookout for such a device in the near future. My current device is a Moto X 2014, which I bought for precisely the reasons stated earlier when it was still a very recent device. As it was designed under Google's time as owners of Motorola, it has proven a good choice for me because it got similar levels of love and support from the developer community to that which Google's own Nexus series have received. Although it hasn't got Oreo yet from LineageOS, I am running a stable, secure and fully functional Nougat 7.1.2 ROM in the official LineageOS build. You can dismiss custom ROMs as "misleading" all you like, but the good work of developers in Android community will continue to make many of us happy as our devices age a little and Gerry stored by

Anonymous, 29 Nov 2017May I ask you to explain simply about Google's Project Treb... moreProject Treble means easier to push updates for manufacturers and hence OEMs
and ergo faster updates
Doesn't mean longer updates by any stretch
I agree that OP only saw the short run benefit in pushing Oreo faster, and not the long run benefit of pushing subsequent updates in the future by adopting Treble
I thougt OP listened to fans, when they claimed to do so retaining the headphone jack
Faster updates are the only thing keeping Android from reaching its true potential, and let Apple get away with the accolade when it comes to updates

Dan, 29 Nov 2017Such a Shane that OnePlus decided not to offer Android 8 Or... moreMay I ask you to explain simply about Google's Project Treble. To be more precise what would you
achieve if your mobile has it.
Google's Project Treble has just simplified the procedure for the Android mobile manufacturers to update their Android, by making Android Oreo modular. It doesn't mean that you will keep on receiving Android updates for your mobile till the end of your life. Moreover, any Android mobile will receive software support only for about two years. In the case with Oneplus 5t consumers will definitely receive Oreo update and even Android P. Look at Oneplus 3t. Talking about custom ROMs here is irrelevant and misleading. I truly believe that the mobile you use currently doesn't include Google's Project Treble. A gift from Google shouldn't land up in controversies.

Sam, 29 Nov 2017One plus 5t vs iPhone x vs galaxy s8 which one is best Plea... moreWhen you opt for Oneplus 5t you have the choice to choose the 8gb ram model. Moreover, approximately, it the just half the price of S8. Also the fingerprint sensor in S8 is wrongly placed which is greatest design error in the life of Samsung. To add up Oneplus 5t will not only receive Oreo update but will also receive Android P, I believe.
Coming to iPhone, it is altogether a different experience. You can get Android mobiles from different manufacturers. But you can get an iPhone only from Apple. First decide between Android and iOS. If you want iOS choose an iPhone or the other way. Everything can't be dealt here. There are plenty of factors to be considered when it comes to Android or iOS. Discuss with your friends or study more about these through the www.
Well, tastes always differ. Wishing you Good Luck.

Such a Shane that OnePlus decided not to offer Android 8 Oreo's Treble feature in the promised upcoming Oreo update. I would have bought it already if they had.
This I think was a serious error of judgement on OnePlus' part. In the post-Nexus world, OP had become the brand of choice for many in the Android enthusiast community. There's nothing enthusiasts like more than getting new software updates for their devices, which would be very much improved and made easier by the Treble feature of Oreo.
Also, in the world of custom ROMs, such as LineageOS, OP devices are the top choice, as reflected by the install statistics from LineageOS. This is another area in which Treble would have been incredibly beneficial, as custom ROM developers have a much easier task working with this new separation of the Android components when making a ROM.
I hope they do a better job with the software on the OnePlus 6 whenever it comes next year, and implement Treble properly. For me personally, this one major oversight has stopped me in my tracks from purchasing the 5T.

I order 5t directly from oneplus.net, received day before yesterday, the device is the solid big screen and light weighted, first time I charged about 30 minutes and it's lasted more than 24 hours depend how you use.charger and cable feel quality product with solid packing and box even the SIM tray eject pin is very solid, if compare to my htc one m8, htc10 and iPhone 6, Oneplus 5t packing is better.
phone come with pre applied screen protector and a case
The phone OS is absolutely fast and smooth with user friendly future options.
