I'm happy that they stayed with a FHD screen for better performance & the phone looks better than before.
But why they didn't put usb 3.0 type c for direct hdmi connection ffs. All the other phones have it

    OK edgy kids
Lets go through some common sense here since you noobs don't know how to value a phone

Camera : A good one probably , Not the best , Better than OP5T in low light , Which is what we need in most cases , And it got 4k60fps which is really great
The camera is not the best but its a pretty good one specially for the price

Display : Really great contrast , OLED panel can greatly blend in with the notch , The decision to go with FHD+ is a great one and all flagships should do it if they want to have flagship performances , Just try comparing this to other 2k Snapdragon 845 chipsets in terms of GPU performance , You'll know what I'm talking about . 400+ DPI is more than enough on a phone and is crisp enough for almost everyone

Battery life should be OK , This chipset is more efficient and the OLED Panel helps the battery , Don't compare the battery with Huawei , Most of Huawei phones have IPS panels , If you don't know why that matters , You should really shut up about OP6s battery being "Mediocre"

Build quality ? GREAT , I don't know which i******t said it has mediocre build quality but the phone passed durability test , And the design is very nice and premium looking

Waterproofing ? This phone silently comes with rain proofing , on par with IP54 , So you can do your thing even under the rain , No one goes swimming with a phone , And even if you accidentally drop your phone in water , Don't worry , Even Oneplus 3 and 3T can survive under water 10~50cm of water for more than 2/3 minutes

Someone complained about stereo speakers , What year is this ? Who listens to music on loud speakers ? Just grab your AUX cable or your damn headphone

SD card ? This baby comes with 256GB of lightning fast storage , It's faster than most flagships , Don't believe me ? Take a look at storage benchmarks of previous Oneplus phones

So , Kids , For 540 bucks , This is a flagship killer , Yes you might get better specs on paper with 900 bucks flagships but in terms of performance ... Sorry , Can't match Oneplus's software / customization / performance

I'll personally wait for 6T to upgrade my beloved 3T

I really wanted to buy this phone but the lack of stereo speakers and qhd display is deal breaker for me.

The phone design is cool but as of specs I don't find anything new or innovative that separates its from other phones in the market (Yes, pricing is superb). I am still using OnePlus 3 & iPhone 7 Plus as my daily drivers and I must say that I love the battery life and super fast dash charge of OP3 (I am a professional photographer and I use OP6 for the shoots *** Completely satisfied with quality & performance***) but for OP6 I am a bit disappointed as I don't see any reason to upgrade to OP6. OnePlus Carl has launched OP6 just to keep the pace with market with nothing new to offer that separates it from other phones.
So, upgrading to OP6 ... NAH!!!!! Still waiting for some new innovative sizzler.

                        Why still no waterproofing??

It's a nice phone but it hardly qualifies for "Never Settle." The RAM, CPU, and radio may be maxed-out but the rest of the phone suffers from the usual mid-range compromises. I'd actually call it rather boring. There's no feature diversity on phones anymore.

I'm considering the exact same two phones: Interesting.

For me (in USA) on an unlocked phone like this, maximum flexibility is an issue. The OnePlus 6 can do both CDMA and certain still uncommon GSM bands that will become common shortly with newest hardware (in particular, the band 71 (T-Mobile's 600MHz here) LTE bands are a serious consideration as they propagate so well in rural terrain and penetrate structures) and that matters to me, it may not matter to you wherever you are or due to your carrier(s).

The infra-red blaster on the P20 would be very nice to have, but the headphone jack on the 6 is also handy to have. The USB 3 on the P20 would be nice, the 6 only has USB 2. BUT, the 6 has BlueTooth 5, while the P20 only 4 (the USB issue is not that important to me, but the new BT spec is supposed to be much better at maintaining connections and I believe can support faster transfer rates.

Battery life matters a great deal to most folks and the P20 has extraordinarily good battery life, while the 6 has, at best average, even possibly mediocre predictions as the battery is the same size as before and the screen is larger (though the chips/boards (SOC & GPU) are much more efficient and supposedly finely tuned to minimize power use).

The P20 camera, being the best in the world right now, is not likely to be beaten by the 6, though I arm very hopeful about its low light performance given the larger CCD/image capture area.

I'm sorry I'm not more definite in specifying which I think is better: They are both simply fantastic phones though in different ways.

The real world testing, reviews, and feedback will be critical, so I'd wait a few weeks at least to get battery and camera reviews and examples.

Also, in the USA the Huawei phones aren't really "officially" marketed (even though stores as large as BestBuy sell tons of them) so I'm not certain how easy service would be.

I'm probably as perplexed as you, as to which way to go.

I have the 5t. I switch phones often because I’m never happy with a phone. Not so with the 5t. It’s been number one phone since I got it on release day. The phone is FAST! I have been unable to find a single fault. The 6 has some improvements that are going to make me want it badly. Battery is more than adequate. Camera is second to the Samsung. Qi charging and splash resistance are a good start. I’m going to hope for better speakers next round. I use on AT&T

                                      AMOLED really not my thing.
With my smartphone using habits, burn-in is inevitable.

I didn't think I'd be saying this but that bottom bezel is growing on me. I like it. Sorta.
