I bought this phone in September 2020 and still using it. I switched from Galaxy S8. My reasoning behind buying it was obviously the price. I bought it on one of the china websites for 1/2 of the price of Galaxy S20 Ultra, wich was my second choice - specs were almost identical, so why pay more?
After almost 3 years, I still don'f feel like there are important enough reasons for me to switch it to something newer.
What I like about it:
- Display is still amazing (no bugs at all for my unit)
- Basically has 90% of the features that are cons8dered flagship in 2023: fast enough charging, wireless and reverse wireless charging, 120hz refresh rate, great speakers and so on.
- No lags or freezes. It's still flagship-fast.
- Android 13 on board!
- Good enough cameras
- It is the first phone I did not break in any way (case + UV glass from the day one, but still it is quite the accomplishment for OnePlus when it comes to my clumsiness).
What I don't like about it:
- OxygenOS (or whatever it is now). At times we simply had buggy releases, which I didn't appreciate. Luckily Android 13-based version is quite stable for me.
- Throughout all these years there was no 16:9 photo ratio implemented in stock camera app, which is just ridiculous. Why???
- Fingerprint reader could be faster and more reliable tbh.
Do I like it? Yes. Do I think it was a good choice after 3 years? Definitely.
Will I buy another OnePlus? No. There were too many software bugs and sloppy releases aling the way, and OnePlus is heading in a strange direction more and more. Will probably go back to Samsung in a year or two, but overall I will remember it as a very good model and great bang for the bucks.

Most of galaxy s20 series are having this green and pink lines after android 12 and 13 updates too and Samsung as of last year was offering free screen repair program for the affected phones. I guess OnePlus should do the same regardless where the phone was bought from

Becareful. I bought this phone in August 2022 from AliExpress (US Version) and now May 2023, there's a link line showing on the screen. I wanted to love OnePlus and has loved it ever since it's value proposition when they launched their first phone, and they were contenders to the iPhone fan base.
Now I know why they charge cheap as they want you to replace your screen or make you change your phone after less than a year.
I'm not sure if it has something to do with Samsung Screens (OLED screen) that the OnePlus 8 pro uses, (Samsung is quite a shady company when it comes to practices) I see many Samsung phones with the same green pink line issue. I hope people are aware of this and stay away from Samsung Screens and/or OnePlus. Please reply to let me know if you have the same issues.

why 8mp telephoto lens in all oneplus models 7 pro, 8 pro, 9pro and 10 pro? Samsung is using 12mp in all models s10 plus, note 10 plus, s20 ultra, note 20 ultra, s22 ultra , s23 ultra

Finally i've sold the phone! After waiting for several updates. It just couldn't make it anymore. I gave up on Oneplus. U really screwed up this time. No more shit phones from Oneplus. Any Oppo could have performed better than Oneplus imo. You are no longer the Oneplus in the old days. Its bullshit now.

is it worth getting toaday op8pro 12/256 new (i found one price around 600-650e), instead of s21fe 6/128 used. 8pro is a beautiful phone in blue color but s21fe is a newer model.I prefer display,battery and design.
