AnonD-1110896, 19 Oct 2023Thanks for the reply. I really dont care what port it has a... moreand this is what shows your Apple blinkers - anything an iPhone can do, Android has been doing for 3+ years longer, all of the "new features" in iOS are all copied from previous versions of Android, and have been for about 4-5 years (basically since Tim Cook took over and after Steve died)

can you do it with a hotspot? yes, after setup a one button press in the quick settings
can you do it with bluetooth? yes, after setup a one button press in the quick settings
can you do it with USB tethering? yes, just turn it on in the network settings
can you do it with ethernet tethering? yes, if you plug in a USB-C to ethernet adapter
can you get devices with 2 SIMs so you make calls on one and use data on the other? yes, and you have been able to for years

if you don't care that Apple is using 10 year old technology in their LATEST PHONE, then you'll be happy with an iPhone, because you're clearly happy using older functionality, and using a wired network connection is old functionality too

hotspots are secure if setup properly with WPA encryption, and you can even setup data limits so you don't accidentally use up GB of data by watching a video (although not on an iPhone), and you can set it up as a 2.4GHz or 5GHz network if you want to

if you're happy to pay $1k for a phone that you're only going to use as a modem, then you're throwing so much money down the drain it's laughable - a $100 Android will do everything you need for tethering, although it won't have iMessage, AirDrop, etc, but if you don't use those features, why pay for them???

so expensive and it doesn't have a cabled video output via USB. A la DeX. I think it's an useful and underrated feature. Even middle range phones should have it

OnePlus is nothing, but a name now. Sad.

Why this phone is expensive when everything it offers is so basic?
                  No periscope
                  No competitive front display
                  No 4k 60fps where as
Vivo X fold one year old is still having better specs then this limping horse.

just think that even the $100 Chinese phones have USB 3 on them, but Apple can't manage it unless you give them $1,500 for the Pro model!!!

Hudinited, 18 Oct 2023Look man. I was helping developers with custom rome back in... moreOnePlus is most known for being the easiest brand to unlock bootloader, if you don't care about any of these things you wouldn't be buying their phones in the first place, and if you were telling the truth then you would understand the importance of having a Snapdragon in a brand like OnePlus, I shouldn't need to explain anything further.

Pacobunny15, 18 Oct 2023Still no wireless charging? There are rumors that the Oppo Find N3 will be the first in the line up with wireless charging... It is believed that the Oppo Find N3 and the OnePlus open will have identical hardware, so I'm keeping hope that the Open will have wireless charging.

Look man. I was helping developers with custom rome back in maybe 2016-2017... today, custom rom community is extremely small that it doesn't make sense to make them anyways.

Should I wait for the open or the 12?

                                    Still no wireless charging?

Custom ROMs for a >$1500 phone? If a manufacturer cannot write a software that runs smoothly on a high-end chip, you better spend your money elsewhere. Custom ROMs were all the rage in the early 2010's when stock Android was still very buggy and lacked some basic functionality, but nowadays it's only the low-end segment where you have to deal with custom ROMs if you want to use your phone normally...

Some of us need those things, if not all, and you deliberately choose to ignore them in favor of your own point. You thinking you have the final word on the argument just because you saw the specs on paper is a rookie mistake, for the reason I already mentioned in the other post. Don't do that.
