OpenAI announces SearchGPT: its new AI search engine

Michail, 26 July 2024

SearchGPT is OpenAI’s long-awaited answer to Google Search. It’s an AI search engine powered by the GPT-4 model family with real-time summarized information from the web and links to relevant sources. The service is currently in its prototype testing phase and is limited to 10,000 test users at launch. You can sign up for the SearchGPT waiting list here.

The text-entry prompt looks just like the one you’d see on ChatGPT. You type a search prompt and SearchGPT provides the relevant answers below. You can then browse through the summarized information and follow the provided links or continue with follow-up questions.

SearchGPT will understand contextual prompts so you can ask for other relevant information about your queries. It also supports visual results like images, videos, and graphs.

OpenAI is currently working with third-party partners to build its database including news agencies like The Wall Street Journal and The Associated Press. OpenAI also confirmed it plans to integrate SearchGPT into ChatGPT down the line.

I hate AI but Google is cooked!

You need to review their site. I think it's Google whom should be VERY worried as it's core cash cow will or possibly be limited to mobile devices for it's profits. It'll heavily hit Googles aD revenue.
