Definitely go for the lighter model. If you go caseless, the dark ones gonna look like somebody accidentally sat on it and broke the frame near the camera.

waiting this phone, i love it! the design is so beautiiful! changing my OP8 Pro

      A. You're paying for just internet to pay for a Google Voice number
      B. You're on T-Mobile which has the Digits app (also good to pay for a virtual number) so you can send texts and make calls via LTE/5G.

If you're using T-Mobile, support for 4G bands 2, 4, and 12 are necessities unless you live in a large city. Bands 66 and 71 may be helpful in very rural areas, but are not necessary. If you're on Verizon, check for bands 2, 4, and 13. If you use AT&T, check for bands 2, 4, 12, and 14. Examples of Oppo phones that will work are the Find X3, Find X3 Pro, Reno 5 Pro, A53s. Devices that will not work very will include the A55, A93, A33, Reno 3.

Keep in mind (unless it's different in Europe and India since I live in the US) that carriers might not enable VoLTE/VoWifi on the phone but if 2G/3G is still there to stay where you're from, you should not have an issue popping your SIM card in the phone and going on with it so long as it has all of the 4G/5G bands your carrier supports.

              Hope I helped.

I have a technical question re network bands and frequencies.
If I had a 4G or 5G phone with a complete set of compatible and respective bands and frequencies that a network provides does it mean:
                1. It is a good phone to use?
                2. I'm expected to have a very strong network signal?
                Please advise. Thanks.

All you have to do is download Google Play Store since the framework is already instilled into the phone. Throw in Google services from the store and you're up and running. I did this with my wife's Mate 20 Pro. It was a piece of cake.

If you have AT&T, I'm not 100% sure if the carrier is willing to unlock VoLTE/VoWifi but it does have the basic 4G bands (2, 4, 17, and 66) and all of AT&T's 5G 6Ghz bands (2, 5, and 66) as long as you get the version from China.

With T-Mobile, it's the same as above (swap LTE band 17 with 12 and 5G band 5 with 41) but it will work fine because of T-Mobile's Digits app (which can redirect your calls and texts to use LTE and supposedly Wifi at the flip of a switch). Sure, you'd have to use that app for messaging (at least not until October of NEXT year when T-Mobile's 2G/3G is going down) but at least you technically CAN use it on here.

I live in the US like you so that's what I know about it.

do oppo phones work in the US? pls reply only if u have experience with this scenario.

                      thanks in advance!

i really want this phone, just don't know if it will work here in the US...

I often tell people to always go for a "Pro" variant or search for a different model, because the non-pro versions often weren't worth it due to bad trade-offs.

THIS time: Definitely go for the non-pro version. The 888 is no real difference to the 870. The rest is absolutely the same (we have to see if that's actually true though).

The price will be inaccurate for the global market, except China. In Europe we'll see at least 800€, with 900€ being more likely and 1200€ for the Pro version.

Add €450 more you get Find X3 pro with almost all global 5G bands at €1150 with the global version of Oppo's Color OS 11.2 supporting more languages and GSM Google play support with the latest greatest SD 888 more power high thermals, hopefully the vapour chamber which is a sizeable one for cooling system will do justice unlike in other OEMs with SD 888 which are overheating with benchmark throttling like Mi 11 with a small square vapour chamber

SD 870 is better than SD 888 in thermals. If you gonna be gaming alot like me go for SD 870, it's even cheaper & manufactured by TSMA unlike the SD 888 manufactured by samsung (I don't trust Samsung chip manufacturing process, too much performance forgoing thermals for longevity of the phone, but hey! It's Samsung more breakdowns more profit like exynos)

Only for the processor sd888 have doubled the price? I see them on the same path that Huawei and Xiaomi took... Even if Oppo makes mobile phones far beyond Chinese competition.
