I had the same issue, luckily in Spain we have 3 years of warranty, and they have changed the screen for free. Indeed it is very disappointing, I knew of this issue in old Samsung phones many years ago, but since then did not hear of it anymore.

Crazy of you to think of throwing a phone because of a line on the display. 250 dollars shouldn't be a problem for you if you have that mindset. I'd keep it just for the amazing cameras.
