Using the device with mobile data literally drains the battery flat in 3-4h, which is ridiculous. And of course, it heats up as well. Never upgrade your device to ColorOS 13.1. It's filled with bugs alongside broken thermal management.

The device gets really hot, and it gets extremely hot while using the camera and lags afterwards. Can you try it out on A12? You were on Android 12 afaik..

Looks like Oppo pushed a software update which breaks the phone interms of SOT & thermal management

That's one of the reason I'm gonna change my phone in near future. It sometimes lasts around 8h (SoT), sometimes I'm only getting 3-4h. Well, at the time of release of this device, the SD 888 was 1 year old so I thought that they'd have optimized the SoC to work efficiently, but sadly, it was not the case.

The phone never heated up like 2 months ago (using it since Feb 2023), but now it's getting too hot, sometimes even with basic usage. Not a good experience, it's my first Oppo and it'll probably be the last one.

Max. 2 days maybe. But in that case, the Play Services and the Google Services Framework drain lots of juice. This seems to be a general issue with Oppo and OnePlus devices..

The latest update affected the battery life in every aspect. (ColorOS 13.1)
Did any of you guys receive the update? If yes, did you install it?

I get around 7:30h SoT with a very light usage, mostly texting, some Instagram here and there and music with AirPods connected. I'm simply afraid of using the camera, as it heats up the phone like an oven and drains a lot of power.. Expect the device to excessively heat up during summer days. Such a cool device gets ruined with the SD 888..

I had the same issue on my previous Nothing Phone 1, but it was disappearing after some time and was actually no big deal for me. On the other hand, the Oppo Find X5 I'm currently holding in my hands, does not have that specific issue. But it's fine, you should not worry about it. :)

Have you experienced something like that because I had a Samsung phone with an OLED screen for 5 years, and I had never experienced anything like that.I am also afraid that it will turn into a complete burn, especially the notification bar, in which I noticed that it occurs in it, but when the phone is closed for a while, it disappears

But they say that it's normal for phone to slightly lag, warm up or drain as it's adapting to new version & optimizing in the background & will return to normal & even better than before. Just have to trust Oppo doing some good job unlike other Chinese brands

"2. After the update, system optimization will be performed in the background. During this time, your device may get slightly warm, become slow, or drain battery power faster, but it will return to normal after the optimization is complete.
                          3. After the update, some third-party apps may not work normally because they are incompatible with your new system. We recommend updating them to their latest versions." -Oppo

Mollisol, 25 Apr 2023Visit Oppo Service center & tell them to install Android 12That's what I "hate" about Oppo. No bootloader unlocking, no custom ROMs, and it really seems to be a rather unknown brand outside China. Other than that, the device is capable of pretty much everything + I'd say that it's currently the best phone you can get for that price. It simply packs anything you need including wireless charging. Battery life could have been better if Oppo had implemented some dynamic refresh rate options. It's only going down to 60Hz when watching video in landscape mode + when the keyboard is open. I've also seen that it goes down to 90Hz when I use Chrome. This results in a much better battery life - hence the video playback score is 20h on GSMArena.
