    Does Oppo allow to access the notifications by swiping down from the middle of the screen, so not needing to start the swipe from the top of the screen?

    This is something nice that both Samsung and Pixel have but I'm not sure if Oppo does have this option in their settings.
    I hope someone can help me.
    Thanks

      The Find X8 Pro scores BIG on DXO Mark!

      Joint 4th best cameraphone and only just beaten out by the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra that has top spot.

        I really don't care, I just want a high quality phone that's good at everything.

        If the next Xperia has comparable specs, I'll be selling my Find X8 Pro, but it's an excellent phone.

        Between all the flagships there's nothing in it really other than price and value.

          You'll have to make some compromises because if you want a high end cameraphone, it won't be compact in size.

          Otherwise wait for the Oppo Find X8 Mini which hopefully will have an intl release. That is pretty much as close to what you are looking for as you can get.

              I'm coming from a base/vanilla Samsung S21, still working fine but battery life and 4G/5G modem are under average.

              I need a high-end Android for work, with:
              - excellent/reliable BATTERY life;
              - very good modem for CALLS in difficult areas under 4G/5G;
              - very good BACK CAMERAS, especially for photos, good zoom capabilities would be a nice plus;
              - possibly a FLAT screen and a COMPACT size as I do sometimes need to use it with one hand, I mean 6 to 6.5 inches display is my "perfect" size, but I know that the best devices are mostly around 6.8 inches (and many do have a curved glass too) so I may have a try if I don't find a similarly good "compact" alternative.

              I was first thinking at the Pixel 9 Pro... I like everything but I'm not sure about long-term battery life/thermals, 4G/5G modem and performance of the Tensor soc with the next Android 16-17-18 updates.

              Oppo X8 Pro is very interesting, just too big for my taste.

              X8 non pro seems to have an international variant that should work fine in Europe, with a nice size and design: I would be happy to sacrifice the 6x telephoto camera for a more compact size Pixel/iPhone style.
              Probably a risky choice as I would need to import.

              S25+ is another one I was considering because it should have a decent battery life and reliable software/updates/optimization, like Pixel.
              I like the thin design even if the device is a bit big for my taste, but I'm very annoyed by the same camera hardware of 3 years ago.

              I really don't know which one to buy......

                Anonymous, 09 Feb 2025My only concerns are: - optical fingerprint sensor (not ul... moreI'll address your points:

                - Ultrasonic vs Optical is a playground argument. It makes almost zero difference in practice other than at night with a bright light flaring up, but then either push the power button and tap in your pin code, or just sleep.
                - Position of the scanner on the phone is perfect unless you have thumbs the size of a six year old child.
                - Size of the phone is basically identical to any other flagship. I am coming from a much smaller Xperia 5 IV, and don't find the size (or weight) of the X8 Pro obnoxious or noticeable. Not worth importing the X8 as it will be a faff with software for the lifetime of the phone and have close to zero resale value when that day comes.
                - There is a factory-installed screen protector already on the X8 Pro. No need for a glass screen protector and even if you did want to install one, 98% coverage on the flat part of the screen is enough. The curved edges are basically impossible to scratch from the thickness of both your glass screen protector and presumably the edges of the case you'll be using. Otherwise it is a phone, just accept it's going to get superficial scratches. Who cares?

                Perfection in a device doesn't exist. But if the above are deal breakers, no need to even comment. Buy something else that better suits what you are looking for. There is a huge amount of choice in today's market, whether you live in the West, Central, East or South.

                  My only concerns are:
                  - optical fingerprint sensor (not ultrasonic), also positioned a bit too low;
                  - big size - I would love the X8 (non Pro) but I can't find European sellers for the global version;
                  - curved glass could make it tricky to use a tempered glass film.

                                    I mean, depending if you do the swipe down from the left or right side of the status bar.
                                    If yes, is it possible to disable this, in order to only have notifications?
