to unknown:the last couple of entries from marco were not from me and as far as I am currently aware GD87 will not be released by T-mobile UK.Details of tech issues were not disclosed but I assume there were a lot of probs with failing mms etc which is one of the reasons why nokia 7210 withdrawn after 5 days and to be re-released in new year once nokia resolve, also software crashes a plenty on that model.Anyway take care with your purchase whatever you decide...marco

It'd be great if phone shops would give a "try before you buy" period so you can be sure to be happy with your choice of handset.

Thanks for your speedy reply Marco. I know the problem with the GD67 (68). It crashes during SMS writing, doesn't it? I'm hoping I can return the handset to get either a SIM free GD87 or a Samsung T100 (can't decide yet). Apart from that problem with the GD67, it's a pretty good little phone.

Sorry, I made an error it was related to the GD68 not the GD87, and we'll stock the phone early next year.

marco, can you specify on the technical issues please? I'm thinking of getting this phone but I'm not 100% certain. I'd have to get it SIM free and that would be a very expensive mistake if it goes wrong.

The Panasonic GD887/88 is a fantastic phone; just read "What Mobile", "T3" and magazine's like that!!!
They give the Panasonic top marks due to value, build quality, functionality, screen color and size and battery.
Panasonic are on their way to being one of the world's best mobile phone manufacturer's.... Something to add on their already extensive list.

TO MIKE:
The Panasonic GD68 model (1st batch) required a software update if the phone is used using Telstra or Vodafone's SIM and networks.
If you have this issue you're required to get a software update by Panasonic.
The reason for this is that Telstra and Vodafone had not fully tested the phone and only Optus are selling the phone.
So, it was discovered that this was a problem as it only has Optus exclusivity for 2002 and people were changing the SIm and using Telstra and Voda SIM's instead of Optus'.

I work for T-mobile UK and was awaiting GD87 to be officially launched any time now but they have made the decision not to release this handset due to technical issues with handset which would have led to customer dissatisfaction.I am dissapointed but will wait for something similar as I want integrated camera and it would be better with java downloadable games and larger pictures sent via email....still a bummer though!
