How do I check the firmware version?
How long should I charge the battery for the first time? My battery does not seem to be working properly.

I have upgraded the software from version 11 to 15. No problem. Is 15 the latestest version?

Hi,
I received my 9@9C (650) 2 days ago. A no thrills, plane and simple cell phone. Nothing more, nothing less. I juste wanted a phone I could use...as a phone! Without gadgets I never use. However, I do got the original VGA cam. (which is for sale btw:-)

I bought it about 3 weeks ago @ Indonesia, it still using firmware version 13 :(
+ nice battery life. +++
+ nice design, altough a little bit fat.
+ loud song, altough a little bit scratchy.
- sms not automatically saved into archieve,
when SIM full, don't have any option to
select where we want to save the sms.
- sms sorted in ascendent, not descendent.
- can't read phone book from the SIM if the
card obsolote, siemens cellphone can.
- not too good lcd, compared to another
vendor.
- must choose between two, phone books from
the mobile phone or from the SIM, can't
mixed it together.

You can only upgrade firmware at the service centre.

I was told by philips service centre that they normally will only have new firmware every 6 months if there is a need to solve bugs.... Ver.15 should be releasedd in Feb/Mar 05... so ver.16 will be around Aug 05??....

To make things worst, the user manual is bad also. There are many things that are not documented. For example the blinking missed calls/sms icons. This is why earlier on someone was asking whether the missed sms icon with ! is normal or not.

I've bought this one for 3 months, and I know:
Philips seem not upgrade firmware.
Softwares are so bad, I think Philips mobile has the worst software in comparison with other mobile.
Only battery is good

I have checked with Philips n was informed that the firmware version 11 and version 15 are for different LCD screen and will not be compatible between the two

hy alzz...i work in a gsm shop in romania..trust me..philips 650 ..itz the best choice..for a medium phone..somb said that u need a camera on ya phone..come on..if u want to take pictures..buy a digital camera..indeed it lasts between 10 day and 14..with a medum 20 minutes talking per day...

Does anyone noticed any flickering on the main screen when the phone is in Autonomy mode ????

It is the same on my phone. I guess this is there because they want to inform you that you have missed an SMS message ;)
Any news on what is the latest firmware? Is there something newer than version 15? And how does it blink (is it in regular intervals) when there is a missed call or SMS?

Need too check when you received a SMS, the SMS icon has an exclamation mark inside a red lined triangle at the left bottom end? Mine have, wonder if it is some error or what. Thanks.

for who's interested...u can get it of e-bay for a few hours, buy it now price is 213+shipping, item located in US. I think is a good deal, I just got me one, hope it works with Cingular in USA.

Good batery life, i've rechearge it 2 weeks ago , 1 hour talk time and i still have 2 lines of batery.one time i have a problem with my screen(doesn't show anithing).Fingerprents visible on batery cover , but overall it well deserve the money !

for its features, it's well worth the price. If you're lucky to have found a camera attachment, good for you. I've got many pictures of my dog using its camera and the photo quality is fairly decent for its class...BETTER than any of the nokia's using the VGA format. Too bad it doesn't have the BEDJ function. Too bad...after sales support in the Philippines sucks. I wish they did not do away with the "first choice" guarantee where your phone, if found to have defects can be replaced...delivered to your doorstep at that and has worldwide coverage.
