The address book is basically the same as the other phones. The only function I see lacking is to send the contacts out as business card via sms. It can only send out via infrared. As for the SMS function, it is similiar to siemens, sony ericsson type. Not as good as Nokia's T9 SMS function, but unless you are SMS king, I find its T9 good enough for daily use. You can choose to send SMS to multi or single contacts. The MMS function can do simple photo editing like add text, icon, frame, rotate.

Reason for me buying this phone is primarily the design, and of course the autonomy. It's got a conservative yet classy look to it, well suited for the executive type. Having used the phone I'm pleased to find that it has what matters for a mobile, good screen(i'm actually impressed, what with its claimed autonomy i'd expect to be rather bland or dim for energy saving, but on the contrary quite vivid and well-contrast), pleasant polyphony, speakerphone, voice dial, infrared sync etc. Feels good to hold, loud enough for a polyphonic, more than enough memory for contacts and messages, and batteries lasting for days to weeks without recharging, I'd recommend this phone to those who are getting tired of the same old designs of Korean phones, don't want to blow their budget on more expensive flip phones with unneccessary functions, and not having to worry about batteries running out every two days :)

for its features, it's well worth the price. If you're lucky to have found a camera attachment, good for you. I've got many pictures of my dog using its camera and the photo quality is fairly decent for its class...BETTER than any of the nokia's using the VGA format. Too bad it doesn't have the BEDJ function.

Purchased my 9@9c today. Cost me $180 on Canal Street in Manhattan. Perfect phone in every way superceeding my expectations. Except the T9 is a little uncomfortable, or maybe I havn't fully learned how to use it yet. I find myself pressing just as many keys during T9 mode as when I spell everything out manually and I have no idea how to make punctuation marks, but that's just probably because I'm stupid. One more minor complaint is that although I'm using the same network and account as with my last phone (V400), I get a much worse signal. This may have something to do with improper sim card setup, or perhaps my network is having problems today. I recommend this phone to serious people who need a practical stylish phone. This phone isn't for the immature.

Finally an interesting and really original phone both in design and ergonomics, very funtional, outstanding stand-by period,no problem with IR communication, solidly buildt. The screen quality could have been better though....but it's probably about energy saving. Bravo Philips and welcome at last in the real gsm world

You lot who complain about this phone should THINK FIRST!
Question: Why was this phone created?
Answer: for businessmen & people who actually use a phone for PHONECALLS. That's what it's all about. The memory is enough to keep your appointments in. It looks classically stylish. And the most inportant feature is BATTERY LIFE. & when it comes 2 this feature, all other brands are left in awe, compared to Philips' Xenium line. All Xenium phones had extremely long battery life for their time, & this 1 is no different.
So what if u don't have a camera in the phone, or an external colour-display?
Those are made for FUN-phones...... This is a FUNCTIONAL phone....
And an absolutely magnificent one at that. IT RULES ALL, period.

For those that are interested, I saw an ebay powerseller selling this phone at US$175. Worldwide mailing fee at US$30-40 depending on location. Thought its quite cheap.....
