cool looking phone, impressive battery life( 5 days normal use), great design and use of materials. Looks classy. too bad it lacks important features like built-in cam, video recorder/player, bluetooth, fm radio/ mp3. i reaaly like the design hope philips has an upgrade for this with the lacking features reconsidered but still with same design.

It is a realy good mobile.
Personally I miss realy very much the SD/MMC card slot and USB.
I hope that those features soon are also available in Philips mobiles.

I have this phone for a few months now. it is really easy and nice to use and oh my, finally i can call and call and sms and sms the whole day without worrying that i will not be able to answer an important call because of 'low bat'.

Why do I read so many different opinions about the battery, Stand-by and Talk time??? I only want this Philips 650 if it really has a Stand-by of weeks and if you can call more than 5 hours with it?
I want like the Xenium 9@9 to lose my recharger because I only use it once in 2 weeks ;)

I bought this phone a couple of days ago and I'm disappointed because it's defective. The phone sometimes turns off and reset itself when I'm making a call. Sometimes when i'm placing a call i can't hear any tone or voice at the other end and i saw a message "call failed." this happens many times and frustrates me. Once I got a call and when I tried to answer it it keeps ringing and i couldn't stop until I removed the battery. It's the most stupid thing that a phone does.

Good design, standard features. The bad thing is you'll have to open the flip to see any msg or miss call. If you searching for name, you'll have to scroll down one by one, it's quite a pain if you compare with Nokia products. The profile is quite confusing. The baterry can last more than a week if you using Autonomy Mode, in Normal Mode it just last about 3 or 4 day. The phone is satisfying if you just looking for a standard stylish phone.

going in trips without looking for the plugs to charge it as soon as i enter a new country
I can leave for at least one week without carring a charger, Thanks a lot Philips for this phone.

For those of you who are interested in this model, here is my two-cent. Last week I purchased a Xenium 9@9c which I believe is the equivalent to the 650 in Europe or US. My battery only lasts for about 4 days and that is if I don't talk or send send text messages too often. I have asked Philips about this and they said that they have released a flyer in Jakarta, which I did not see prior to purchasing the unit, and it says that it can last on standby for ONLY 1 week. The explanation is that it depends on the network in the country which you are in. I wish I knew that before. In addition, the phone is really slow compared to my old Siemens ME45 when moving from one category or message to another. On top of that, the T9 program can't seem to learn new words so when messaging with new vocabulary or other languages, it's a real pain. In addition, it can't even send business card over text messages! This is for me the biggest downside. When someone needs a phone number that i have and he/she is not near me (you can do it via infrared), you will have to manually type the number. I had to call Philips to confirm this and yes, for some bizarre reason, their software does not support sending business cards over text messages! So yes, I am disappointed. I think aesthetically the phone looks beautiful and the tri-band is useful when travelling to places like the US. But apart from those features, I am turning back to my Siemens since it's just more convenient and faster for daily usage.

How do I send business cards over SMS with the 9@9c????? I can't seem to do it? With my old Siemens, I can just select the card and have an option to send. Here the only option that I can find is to send via infrared. Anyone with info, please advice. Many thanks.

Stop saying that 800hrs can't be true !
I get 543hrs of stby with my extended battery on my Ericsson R520. Philips is using a new bettery technology to provide these 800hrs.
