And as Realme 2 Pro uses an underclocked SD660 the P60 found in Oppo F7 is even more powerful on this area. And as P60 is built on a newer architecture compared to SD660 it produces a little less heat and less throtling.

However Snapdragon is the king when it comes to GPU performance, so it is just normal that SD660 will be better in this area compared to P60. Saying that I played quite a few games like PUBG and Asphalt 9 on F7 and their is nothing to complain about. But definitely SD660 on Realme 2 Pro will be better, but for how long? Just as temperatures go beyond limit on these plastic phones be it P60 or SD660 will start throttling and your experience goes down the drain.

Rajinders, 19 Oct 2018But dear everybody puts a Plastic backcase on their phones.... moreWhen device get's heated it drops in performance due to throttling. The type of material used plays an indirect part in handling this heat. Glass and plastic heats up lot more than plastic. Also heat also depends on the processor. Back case and processor go hand in hand in heat dessipation.

Does it have screen recorder which can record internal audio ?

Rajinders, 19 Oct 2018But dear everybody puts a Plastic backcase on their phones.... moreI am pretty certain it is not software related. My wife uses an Oppo F7 which uses the same Oppo's ColorOS on top of Oreo. F7 is built upon the same plastic chassis & body construction but uses an even more power efficient Mediatek Helios P60 SoC. This SoC is built using 12 nm architecture rather than 14 nm of SD660 and dissipates less heat. Later my relative got a Realme 1 which is a low cost derivative of F7. But both the phones barely gets warm and has no lags in software. F7 is butter smooth on operation but it may be the case that ColorOS is highly optimized for Mediatek chipsets as Oppo have been using them for years and the more power efficient P60 is producing less heat and hence no throttling.

Mediatek have struck gold with their P60 SoC with so high demand that they are unable to supply the stocks to all the smartphone manufacturers. I was never a big fan of Mediatek SoCs as their top of the line SoCs where powerful and then power hogs but the P60 is something different, it is nearly as powerful as the underclocked SD660 found in Realme 2 Pro but consumes less power than it. Hence I gifted by wife a Oppo F7.

Saying that a metal chassis and body construction even under a plastic case will keep the SoC 10 times cooler than a plastic phone in a plastic case.

Instead of LTPS display, if Nokia had gone for a good IPS LCD or AMOLED, it would have costed Rs.1000 more to the maximum. Any consumer who can afford to spend Rs.24000 on a mobile wouldn't hesitate to spend Rs.1000 more. For all these to happen manufacturers should feel the passion of delivering the utmost product to consumers with a Devine Heart. Heart should precede Brain, if the world has to survive for long.

But, my expectations were littered by them with their substandard display. It has a blue tint. A good mobile should have a Really Good Display, since it is the most used part of every mobile and it is that piece of hardware that communicates everything to us. Whether you accept it or not, personally I didn't like the display of Nokia 7 Plus. But, I do not mean to say that every mobile should come with Super AMOLED display. Though there are good IPS LCD displays manufactured, most of the manufacturers go for LTPS LCD display to reduce cost. Even the Realme 2 Pro uses LTPS LCD display. There are plenty of things to talk about more than plastic and aluminium which is beyond the scope of our discussion. To end up, normal IPS LCD displays have a life span greater than that of LTPS LCD and AMOLED displays. But, I don't know what sort of display is used in Nokia 7 Plus.

Rajinders, 18 Oct 2018Your observations are on dot ...rightly said it is not snap... moreThere is a reason why Oppo Realme 2 Pro is not as fast as say a Nokia 7 Plus even though both comes with SD660 SoC. And I am concerned about this trend among smartphone manufacturers. But first let us discuss about all BBK Electronic brands: Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus and now RealMe. If you look at all the phones available from BBK in India using SD660 SoC, you will end up with:

                                  1) RealMe 2 Pro
                                  2) Vivo V9 Pro
                                  3) Vivo V11 Pro

All these three phones are using attractive looking plastic or rather polycarbonate chassis/casing so that they look flashy and cheap to manufacture. A similar uni-body metal chassis after CNC processing may cost 20 times more like in Nokia 7 Plus. But there is a method to all this madness.

India happens to be a very price sensitive market where high specs and low prices rule. So what BBK is doing is to make plastic phones with high specs like RealMe 2 Pro using cheap plastic materials used construction and then price it very aggressively driving huge sales. But plastic has its own demerits related not only is looks and in-hand feel but also in SoC's sustained high performance.

A powerful SoC like SD660 even made through efficient 14 nm architecture will emit heat when pushed hard and then something inside the phone needs to dissipate the heat so as the SoC can provide sustained high performance over a period of time. If the SoC is not able to dissipate the heat properly it will immediately start throttling causing huge drop in performance which the user will immediately notice in lagging UI and huge frame drops while playing games.

A premium metal unibody phone like Nokia 7 Plus, will absorb the heat from SD660 and dissipate the heat throughout its entire metal body as metal is an excellent conductor of heat. The phone will then tend to me warm in hand if pushed to extreme over a sustained period, but rest assured the Soc will remain cool and provide maximum output, no CPU throttling which cause lags in UI or frame drops in games.

On the other hand plastic is a very bad conductor of heat. Thus it cannot dissipate heat. So now you are left with few options as a phone manufacturer. Either you use separate copper piping to cool the SoC just as what Xiaomi did with Poco F1. The other and cheapest option which BBK is following is under-clock the SoC so that it operates say 90% of its performance envelope because pushing above 90% will dissipate a lot of heat by SD660. And this is exactly what Vivo, Oppo & RealMe has done. All the three phones mentioned above, Realme 2 Pro, Vivo V9 Pro & Vivo V11 Pro have the SD660 under-clocked where the four main CPU cores are clocked @ 2.0 GHz where as in actual it is @2.2 GHz as found in Nokia 7 Plus.

Vivo & RealMe are under-clocking the SD660 even though they are not telling this in open, and this has a direct impact on performance. Also the SoC is throttling under sustained usage as the heat generated by SD660 cannot be dissipated by the cheap plastic. Also Realme 2 Pro cannot shoot video @ 4K as it will cause a lot of heat generated by SoC and the phone will crash. On the other hand Nokia 7 Plus is offering 4K with the same SD660 SoC as it is able to handle the heat.

So in the end we are left with two options, either opt for cheap but spec heavy phones like RealMe 2 Pro which you are willing to throw away within 3 years at @ INR 14K base price. Or you buy a phone like Nokia 7 Plus which is built like a tank and will live a lifetime with you. But quality does not come cheap so you need to shell out @ INR 24K to grab a Nokia 7 plus. I personally opt for the latter.
