UBI confirms three Samsung foldables coming in 2021, reveals screen details

Ro, 04 December 2020

This is not the first time we hear about this, but a report by OLED researchers from UBI Research says Samsung will release three foldable devices in 2021. As the company focuses more of its efforts on the quickly growing niche and will even sacrifice its Note line for it it will deliver a Galaxy Z Fold3, Z Fold Lite and Z Flip2. The report also brings details about the screens the trio will use.

Research firm confirms three Samsung foldable phones in 2021

All three of them will feature next-generation UTG (Ultra-Thin Glass) foldable displays and use LTPO technology for reduced power consumption. The Z Fold3, however, will stand out from the crowd with an under-display selfie camera. However its screen size will shrink to 7" from 7.6". The outer display will also be in the 4" range, so we are probably looking at a phone smaller than the Galaxy Z Fold2.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Lite will offer the same display configuration (probably without the under-display camera tech) paired with cheaper internals to achieve a lower price point.

The Z Flip successor will come with the same 6.7-inch foldable panel but a bigger 3-inch external one, compared to the original Z Flip's outer display of just 1.1".

The report also adds that the Z Fold3 will indeed have S Pen support.
