M and M, 30 Jan 2014Depends on your needs; I would chose the Lumia 1020 over th... moreThese specs aren't just nice. They're killer specs - the kind of specs that are FUTUREPROOF. Why buy a Lumia when the "no present phone gets WP7 update to WP8" story might repeat itself? What would you do with your dual core phone when better and bigger updates and apps come around? The money you pay for a Lumia is the same as buying an almost twice as better device (hardwarewise) along with a more capable OS. Some people blatantly buy something because it's "their brand" and not actually look for something better for its value... Pity...

Mr Grumpy, 29 Jan 2014Two things kill this stone cold dead:
1. No removable ba... more1. Waterproofing and removable battery? Aren't you a bit over your head?
2. It would have been nice but think about how Sony crammed almost the whole Z1 in this size. It might not have been viable. Open the phone and see if it's even possible.
And about the buttons? Although I like capacitive buttons more than on-screen ones, I would say you should read 2. above. Please don't keep trolling the forums and GTFO.

Anonymous, 30 Jan 2014Name phone to match z1compact. Depends on your needs; I would chose the Lumia 1020 over that; I'm still not a fan of it's look but it has a killer camera. Besides some google services and some extra apps, with the Z1 compact you've also got an overkill quadcore which you only need because it uses Android, because ios and wp phohes still do just fine with 1.5 GHz dualcores at that resolution.
Seriously, can you name the benefits of having a 2.6GHZ quadcre on a 720P screen? (Antutu scores don't count as benefits I suppose)

Recieved my Z1 compact today.
Not had a chance to play with it just yet as leaving it to charge but quality is very good, weight and size seem perfect too.
Coming from an iPhone 4S and the Z1 is not that much bigger since I have a bumper on my 4S.
Retail package is nice and small and has everything you need incl. charger and cable, headphones and also a cable to transfer from iOS devices.

By the way, be careful around smokers, i never allowed my friends to use my Xperia Z while holding a cigarette as hot ashes can damage the ASF if it burns through the "DIY protector" as you call it.
OT, I have a set of new original Sony "DIY protectors" for front and back of Xperia Z, hard to come by, any bids? ;)

DQ, 30 Jan 2014I did not know that...
Anyway thanks Japan for such law.... moreIt certainly does protect the screen from breaking since its thick and shock absorbent compared to a regular screen protector, but i believe the main point is to not have tiny pieces of broken glass all over you and your surroundings when the bad luck strikes.
I recommend using a regular thin screen protector on top of the antishatter film to protect it from scratches and keep it as new. Just change the extra protector once every few months, very cheap.

Anyway thanks Japan for such law... Today I take the ASF (anti-shatter film) into consideration before upgrading my phone...
People take for granted that extra protection... and I bet that they would complain more if their phones cracked like other phones do without ASF

Anonymous, 30 Jan 2014If anything Sony or IOS 7 have the cartoon UI..And that is ... moreThis is absolutely insane. Dont take my word for it, rad any review you like, Sony is highly regarded because of its UI, its near to stock but its also efficient and smooth. It doesnt add lots of crap, thats what TouchWiz always get critisized for.
Congrats, you just took some well known facts and turned them on the head. Imagine... You must be desperate fanboy, real desperate, going straigth against well known facts so its obvious even to noobs that you are lying your guts out?

why is it that most nitpicking comments seems to come from samsung fanboys? given samsung's history of paying people to do smear campaign against taiwanese htc, it might be that these comments came from these minions.
