HTC One (M8) review: One and only

25 March 2014
To say there are great expectations of the freshly announced HTC One (M8) would be a massive understatement. This is, after all, one the of flagships to shape the entire season. But a predecessor that failed to turn warm reception into good sales...

Note:My career tell me go for m8 cus htc devices have a better optomize than sony and samy product..
Primume feel is first reason that i pick up a phone..
I have both xperia z and one and sure i tell u one faar better than z..
Z2is great but sony 's phone almost isnt same that one we see in advertise and in work has a less performance that i expected..
Specially in ui i dont think any phone come to near to sense 6 with most beautiful and charismatic usage.

Did HTC copied the iPhone 5S color range and dual tone led or from now on all OEMs will have silver, black and gold phones?

As was said in the review, the camera implemented by the competitors' easily trumps HTC One's camera. It is indeed not about the number of pixels, it is the sensor/lens quality and how they implement it. There are a lot of crappy phone with crappy 13mpix camera thus crappy picture quality.

I wonder though, if you pair a 13-20mpix sensor with ultrapixel camera to 'correct' the picture, will that work?

I can't understand why people here are just criticized about the camera?? is Higher megapixels means better image quality??

If I was them, I will tried the camera of this phone by myself and compare the picture with the competitors phone, and made the conclusion.

Not just criticising something based on written specs only.

You may be provoked by written specs, but if you doin' some test/experiments, the result could be different.

No offense, but it's just my opinion.

I'm not into huge phones but I will say that after all said and done this is a extremely handsome handset and cool functionality. Stunning in fact. I look forward to the One 2 mini.

Or dear HTC. Why why why on earth do you deliberately use ultrapix camera? You can't be forgiven for the same flop twice. I own HTC One camera and I can tell it's far from perfect. There is a clear problem with light spills and lack of contrast in low contrast situation or quiet lit scene. Images in bright sunny day against blue sky back facing sun are well delivered. If only few people complained about but common! You are aware of this problem yet you happy to cripplenew phone.
Ability to refocus image is fine addition but I doubt it will be mainstream and why it should have upper hand before sorting out main camera. My guess people will play with this feature not long before they forget about it. So I would ask my self why I need secondary camera if I can't have quality photos in the first place.
For this reason I only admire iPhone and Nokia where camera performance is consistence and plausible.
Other thing is bottom bezel. It's no brainer it takes place and everyone notice. It also makes phone longer. Think of how much our hands grown in the last 5 years and smartphone? There is degree of unbalance. Maybe smartphone manufactor should include finger extensions as standard with they new phones from now on?! I still want to use my device with one hand and hold a cup of tea in the other one.
                      Amen

They made the wrong decision with the camera hardware. Other than that, it looks okay (MUCH better than the last One) and the SD card slot is a good feature. Sony's Z2 looks better (in Black) and has a bigger screen and a better camera. No reason to get this instead of the Z2.

AnonD-247206, 26 Mar 2014I don’t understand why HTC insists on this camera setup. I... moreAgreed. If the new one's camera shows better low light performance or produces less noise-prone imagies, I would not complain about lacking some pixels, but it doesn't. Are there any category that HTC's camera excels when compared to the competitions like iphone 5 or LG G2? hardly no.
                              'Ultrapixel'is just an 'ultra-compromise' imo.

Wonder why they are not dropping that yltrapixel camera, which doesnt seems like working as they said. Does the camera have better low light performance than the competition? No. Does it produce less noise-prone pictures? Well... cant judge yet, but the original one wasnt so good at that categore when compared to iPhone 5 or G2. Otherwise, it is quite a attrective phone.

I really like this phone, great design and specs but no way I will get a phone with just 4Mpx cam.
Yeah, I know "it is not 4Mpx, it is 4 ultrapixels and bla, bla, bla...." but let's face it, no matter how God a so called "ultrapixel" is, it is just a pixel, a dot. And at the end of the day, 4 ultrapixels are 4.000.000 dots on your picture and the competition can have 3, 4 and 5 times that. They might be some good dots on that picture but they are simply too little. No way the photo can be properly zoom in when you later see it on your computer screen.

It’s a deal breaker! With a decent 8MP camera this could have been my next phone. Sorry HTC but you need to start listening to the customers! Sony Xperia Z2 for me.

I love the diversity now days... you want a metal body you have htc you want glass and waterproof you have sony you want a "smarter" with removable battery and micro sd slot you have samsung ,you don't want android you have nokia if you don't want any of these and you have the money you have iphone you want security you have blackberry, quite obviously each company will try to sell devices boasting what they have over competition but you have to remember that each in the competition has something over theirs.Being a fanboy is ok as long as you dont come up with stupid things to justify your phone of choice
