HTC - you gotta employ some other management, this one is clearly making some wrong desicions and it's been doing it for a loooong time. If you don't deliver a phone with more capable camera, than sorry. The times when phone cameras didn't matter much has passed and you should know better... HTC didn't ever make a phone with good camera. They have superb quality and features, but camera is fail and do not "sell" us the story that you know better for us customers what we need because we know what we want ;) If it had like ie. Galaxy S3 camera, which is 2 years old know, it would be great... C'mon that's like 8Mpx. HTC what are you thinking, change management... :)

AnonD-197520, 26 Mar 2014Sorry, Its a disappointment except for the new gesture base... moreThe G2 is clearly better. It's cheaper, has a far better camera, has better endurance when watching videos or browsing the Internet. And 32 GB can go a long way before running out, for most people. So I don't see why would this phone sell well when there are better alternatives out there already. HTC have blown their opportunity yet again. Oh, well...

From the camera samples, it is clear that the sensor has very poor dynamic range.

SDKforLumia, 26 Mar 2014but brother, i am still disappointed with HTC one M8. All t... moreoh dont get me wrong...the phone has certain amount of faults for a lot of people. if bezel size is the issue, i did mention that lg has it down and right. i dont hate samsung, but you cant deny that they have the same homogenous shape and other than the the s2 and Note series, they have a tendency to lag after a couple of months of usage. look htc cant compete with a giant like samsung. where htc went wrong and what bought the company to ruin was the fact that they were half assing it and riding on the success of the 1st gen. desire range and a few other models. htc is solely a "cellphone company" and thats what they should have been good at.they brought out a whole range of devices that were sub-par but cost the same as premium devices. the only reason they sold any at all were because of the same reason people used to buy nokia's once iOS and Android were occupying the market..."its a nokia"! so people thought "its htc!" no the m8 is not The Best device, but its Among the best and to many one of the best looking. And its one of the phones that are available right now. the z2 isnt going to be out for a couple more days. So that places the m8 in a good place right now. look the z2 is not going to be the best device for too long either...something better will come and so on and so forth. Sony is a company that understood how to capture the market. started with mid level devices and captured peoples interest and trust and then introduced top shelf models and innovative ideas. their cameras were never really that awesome and screen quality didnt match those of lg and samsung...but they were good devices for many...there are those who need water proofing and those who dont. those who need screens that are 5 inches and about and those who need something compact. some prefer more processing power over build and some the opposite. the market is going to cater for everyone at one point....but as of now, from the list of devices that are available the m8 is Among the best when multiple factors are considered....not the best nor flawless...

SDKforLumia, 26 Mar 2014but brother, i am still disappointed with HTC one M8. All t... moreAlso sense 6.0 is so heavily optimized..that despite jut 300mah more than the m7...with bigger screen it manages to last 23 hrs longer..a WHOLE day longer...so u see it is all in the optimizarion...not to forget the z1 had a 700mah advatage ocer the m7 bit had 40% LESS..battery life..so u see the software plays a role....so actually i wud not at all be surprised to find out that the z2 has a marginal edge or perhaps even less battery life than the m8..despite its 600mah advantage....also if two phones had same battery life..the lower capacity wud charge faster... ...

SDKforLumia, 26 Mar 2014but brother, i am still disappointed with HTC one M8. All t... moreActually buddy...the z2 is broader beyond comfortable region...u just hold m8 and z2 ..u will find the m8 more comfortable due to less width..and also z2 is thinner and sharper at the edges ..u will find urself griping the edges..really too much slimness makes it uncomfortable(though it looks more sexy)...the m8 though taller..its more comfortable to hold..the back is curved ..making it more comfortable...its more.natural to hold..the m8......also z2 is squarish and broadish...u can just hold both the phones and get the answer..though htc m8 should have reduced the bezels..but probably they coudnt fit the internals in a smaller frame..

cobra_khan, 26 Mar 2014everyone seems to want their phones to be perfect from ever... morebut brother, i am still disappointed with HTC one M8. All those crying on samsung plastic body, are they really this much blind to ignore HTC's same design from last year with even bigger bezels and less user friendly handling?? And watch closely, u will notice that M8 has even surpassed Xperia Z1 in hight and comes almost equal to the hight of xperia Z2 which has 0.2 inches bigger screen and water and dust resistant too. And has a whopping 600 mAh larger battery. So u decide, does HTC M8 really deserve to be called as the best flagship of the year?? I said no, don't what u have to say.

Sorry, Its a disappointment except for the new gesture based controls and improved battery life. HTC is going to end another year well behind the competition and well with in the red territory.

cobra_khan, 26 Mar 2014everyone seems to want their phones to be perfect from ever... moreFinally...the pleasure of reading a sane and mature persons comment...faith in intelligence in humanity RESTORED....but i do think they could just put the 13mp of desire 816( though haters wud then say they have put a midrangers cam in flagship)..coupled with OIS..also some tweaking here and there..to make it even better..wud be beter...but the 4 up is not bad at all..for the average person it shoots more than satisfactory daylight shots and impressive indoor shots also the 5mp cam in front is quite good(though im not a selfie guy)....

everyone seems to want their phones to be perfect from every single aspect and that just doesnt happen. the one Major gripe everyone has with the m8 is its camera. i think htc is finally getting its act together. htc used to be overly priced for mediocre performance sans expandable memory. they are now becoming competitively priced with better specs And micro sd slot with their build quality intact (something samsung rarely achieves).and lets be honest, their cameras have never been their strong point. even with their 8mp shooters. the fact that they have stuck with the 4ump cam is pretty cool i think. the megapixel debate is more about bragging rights in most cases. sony's 20mp cams arnt really all that great as reviews have suggested. and nokia is the only company that delivers when it comes to image quality....but its Windows os! and thats fine for many too. Iphones are an all round good package but Insanely overprices unlocked. If ppl were to constitute to what the perfect phone was for today, it woul have the internal spcs of the note 3 (with s-pen), pure view camera from nokia, screen to bezel ratio of lg and the fit and finish of htc and water and weather proofing of sony. But that phone doesnt exist. i like the fact that htc stuck with a camera which shines for its pixel count and added a second camera for proximity field adjustment. yes it sounds dull but its the first (and only)of a kind on a phone and they have made it better. perhaps the pixel count will increase in the future. anyway they do offer a 5mp front shooter for selfies...and the m7...well it was the phone that kept a sinking company afloat...so to say it didnt sell well would be a bit far fetched...

Everything about this phone (except the camera) is fantastic for me. Sound quality, design, battery life and screen. I'll use a proper camera for occasions and projects anyway.
