Anonymous, 25 Mar 2014Your comments on 4K recording on a smart phone are somewhat... moreactually people have said about the Xperia Z2 that 4K video on a 1080P screen looks better than native 1080P

Can I just say that the faux-bokeh is horrible? Sony's background defocus produces much better photos.
Wow. After reading lots of reviews of this year's flagship phones, I think Sony Xperia Z2 is the winner of the war this time.

People....
Who critizes HTC One's camera is because have never used it... The camera is Amazing!!
I have many friends with their S4s and IPhones, and they get amazed that I can take pictures without flash at night that turn out to look excellent... much better than theirs with flash... Everyone always asks me to take the pictured for the group and then share with them...
Forget about numbers people... What matters is what you see...

GSM arena you say this phone has the best audio but yet looking at the chart I can't help but notice the s4 has higher marks in some of the categories, frequency response, noise level and crosstalk especially or have i got the wrong end of the stick

Some points of your comment is valid and some are without proper explanation.
True the one 2013 could produce good night shot, but the most deciding factor, i.e., OIS is missing now. The advantage of bigger pixel is somewhat offset by the dismal pixel count.
and as for dpi's I think 99% camera phones encode in 72 dpi other than the 808 which does in 200 dpi...maybe am wrong, but HTC could have put atleast some ~6 mp camera with these BIG pixels.
and oh, there is a THIRD scenario, you see, I don't always carry my camera and almost never share my shots on social media, they are for ME, and personally speaking, I would not use the HTC to take a snap cause there is a chance that it'll be a non zoomable pixel broth. ;)
just my opinion really...correct me if am wrong...

AnonD-12245, 25 Mar 2014Come on, I can understand a non techie person to be bought ... moreNice story there...bro even i experince the same in day time (which is when ppl use there cameras the most) when my ( very few)friends using htc one always ask me to forward my pics with s4, cause there pics were unusable and r of almost no good details .lol ,matters r much worse for htc now as the OIS is also removed...u & htc needs to grow up big time...they sud have given a xenon flash instead of gimmiky dual camera setup.

The dropped the OIS? Seriously? Optical image stabilization is way more useful than dual camera refocus tricks. I hate it when I phone is "ugraded" and instead of simply improving on what they have, a company drops features and makes the phone not an obvious improvement. This phone is also bigger and uglier now. Hey, those non-symmetrical front facing speakers look great. Good job HTC.

Anonymous, 25 Mar 2014My biggest beef is the length of the device (for a phone). ... moreYes, it's stupid beyond belief. They made the screen bigger, but wasted all the new space with onscreen buttons. Then kept the bezel where the capacitive buttons were, which is now just wasting space.

Strangely not addressed in the review : does it make sense for an owner of the current HTC One to upgrade?

AnonD-12245, 25 Mar 2014Come on, I can understand a non techie person to be bought ... moreTotally agree man! Some people just hold on and on to those MPs... For a phone that post pictures on social media for a more than decent print 4mp is more than enough..Good job HTC! they did a very good job with that second camera instead of increasing that over-ratted megapixel stuff will only conquers newbies souls

My biggest beef is the length of the device (for a phone). The M8 now has onscreen buttons so why not remove the section the logo is on and save 8mm of length? Apart from that it looks like a great device.

Come on, I can understand a non techie person to be bought into the number's race. At the angles all camera phones have, you almost never zoom in to crop a photo. I know I don't do it, even with my Dslr while using a wide angle lens.
To all you people saying you don't take your phone m7 out to take pictures, is because you automatically assume that they are going to turn out bad. In fact, I've been in many parties where my S4 sporting friends end up asking me to send them the pictures I took cuz theirs turn out unusable (because of the low light).
Last year many people realized that no one uses more than 4 MP coming from a phone. Social media sites always down scale your pictures and if you print, 4 MP are good for 10x8 print outs at 300 dpi (that's retina resolution for the non techie one)
I disagree with the reviewer, last year's m7 paved the road for this year's m8. People have realized that MP aren't the only deciding factor for a camera's quality.
Think about this, if megapixeles are everything to a cámara, then all photographers should ditch their 3k+ Dslr in favor of a lumia 1020...
