Nokia X review: Under cover

10 April 2014
The Nokia X is one of the Finns' first ever smartphones to run Android and yet it may not be the Android phone you've been looking for. Perhaps you’ve been looking in the wrong place? Nokia will certainly like you to think so. To be honest though...

The lack of Google services is an advantage for me. I like android, but despise Google services.
I've got two android devices at the moment and both of them barely work because I have anything associated with Google disabled. Google maps is great though.

It seems that people will always talk about "specs" like it's the only thing that matter, even before they touch the devices and use them in real world they judge them, compare them, and even ridicule them!

It's hopeless, no matter how many time people like me try to say "specs is not the only thing" we'll still see 100s of comments, silly comments.

This device sound like donationware to Nokia if I were to buy it. Apart from the looks and ergonomics does it really have anything much over its competitors (which non-Nokia fans can see)?

Very bad battery life, clearly because of old display technology, a TN panel, those things just refuse to let light pass through easily, which is not surprising when light has to pass through two semitransparent electrodes on its way out.

Super cheap phones like ZTE Blade has IPS panels, why dont the tier one manufacturers do the same, both Sony and Nokia are experts in crippling cheap models with horrible displays, and cant say HTC and Samsung been any better at that. Maybe its time to rethink who is "tier one" and not when seeing all the crap they make while ZTE and others makes great budget phones. Well, my money surely goes to the Blade Q if a budget phone is needed and maybe the upcoming Foxconn-made BlackBerry Z3 will be a worthy challenger, could easily turn out to be the best if the price is right, due to its superior OS.

Android 4.1......seriously. You could of at least made it 4.2 or 4.3.
