HTC One (M8) vs Sony Xperia Z2: Unsafe mode

11 June 2014
There haven’t really been sparks flying between Sony and HTC. It doesn’t look like a rivalry capable of producing the kind of ripples one would expect of a clash involving Samsung and Apple, or LG and Samsung. Yet, HTC and Sony have been...

i like both but gsm plz be fair in compare..
we speak about premium feel, design & comfortable use just when taking both in our hand m8 is faaaar better in all design aspcts not only in front of z2 even any Competitors..

plus it in ui`s performance , function & design i dont think any ui`s can close to sense 6..its fantastic perfect with any lag and quite simply fresh..
sony`s ui always was the weakest spot sonys gadgets and it seems dont correct compare it with sense 6 and tell tie.

While it looks like Xperia Z2 won more than HTC One M8 (5:3), this looks like an even VS between two devices.
You can't really go wrong with either devices, it's all depends on your preference. And I do think both are beautifully designed phone.

Want better Battery life, Camera and Dust/Water Proof Phone : Sony Xperia Z2 is the answer

Want better Display and Audio Quality in an Aluminium body phone: HTC One M8 is the answer.

just look at those sample photos. when they did the comparison with s5, the photos looked like they were taken with different lighting conditions. you can see the clouds were different. here, you can really see how the z2 camera is better than that of s5's.

I initially wanted to buy HTC One M8 for the premium design, low light photography, and front/selfie Camera and but it hasn't been released in my country yet.

A month ago the Xperia Z2 was released, bought it and hasn't regretted it. I freakkin' love this phone!
                - I take my phone to the bathroom/toilet all the time, so the IP 58 definitely useful.
                - The Camera is awesome. Way better than my previous S4. It's fast, take great pictures. Low light photography is awesome. Probably best in class. This is important for me since I often take indoor/lowlight pictures. The best results is using the Superior Auto Mode (oversampling the 20Mpx to 8 Mpx), or use with the Manual Mode with 8 Mpx - Pocketnow confirms this.
                - The default Superior Auto Mode also produce great macro and bokeh effect. I prefer that method than the Backgroud defocus (too artificial).
                - The device comes with Noise Cancelling earphone and it sounds awesome! Blocking most outside noises. I feel guilty sometimes using it in the office, since I couldn't hear my desk phone ringing many times. lol
                - Front speaker is good but could be louder.

Don't really see the VS aspect of this comparison. It's black and white for me: if I need a good camera, Z2, otherwise, M8.

The noise cancelling built in must not work on the Z2,not even a mention. Curious because most of my listening is in noisy situations, wouldn't that make a difference in sound quality?

                        Edit:
PA said HTC's ufocus is better than that of Z2. I think they took a normal image of z2 & photoshopped it..... now I know which has better background defocus or ufocus or whatever it is....

Another set of fanboy wars, arguments and banters incoming; this time HTC v.s Sony.

One concern that isnt raised about M8 is the second camera, even if it had a great highres main cam the second gimmick cam is giving the phone a very "Forrest Gump" flavor, having dual rear cam like that in public is as embarrassing as saying "those look like comfortable shoes". Who would want to be seen with something like that? I bet its a dealbreaker for lots of people, and it should be, basically the thing is only good for producing very fake looking bokeh as demostrated in lots of reviews, would be a lot better without. HTC is trying to stand out with their dual cam and for sure they do but not at all in a positive way. The worst move of the decade imo.

Sony Z2. No comparison. IP58 certification, much better camers, much better battery, more ram..etc

The choice is a no-brainer for me. M8 looks better, has the better UI and the audio output is better. But it's Android, so you can install Sony's Android to M8 and vice-versa, so UI isn't a problem.

Yes, this year HTC has dropped the ball, they produced the best phone last year but this year the improper use of space didn't make the phone better. It is unwise to upgrade from the original htc One. So its naturally a no threat to Sony z2, which is a clear winner in here and a proper contender to S5, as I feel Lg G3 ruined its performance trying to bring the UHD screen too early in the market.
